So first is a tablet for my son, we've lost his first one somewhere, he uses it for educational games and a few like angry birds, don't need anything special but missus is looking at a 7" tablet from wowcher about £30 can't show the link because its a stupid website and I hate it.

Next one is for the missus (and me ;)) she wants a kindle because she loves to read but I'd rather not get a closed shut OS and I just want something as that I can play emulated games on, nes and megadrive games. I've got £100 for that

For you and wife, I recommend a nexus 7 2012 (or 2013, it's worth the extra money if you're willing to spend it)

I'm not very informed on 30£ tablets unfortunately :(

read my sig please ;)

If your going to spend enough to get a Nexus 7, id personally spend a little bit more and get a Nvidia Shield.

Its a fantastic little tablet, the included stylus is nice touch and could be rather fun for your son for him to draw.

And maybe if he gets into PC gaming you can use Gamestream at a later date.

It would also be very useful if he would like to play Portal 2 or Trine 2 on the go.

You're not stuck on 4.2, it gets all updates directly from google and ahead of time, too!

When I said "read my sig", I referred to this part ;) "Please follow your topics guys, it's very important!"

I have an AMD and gamestream isn't much use when we live in a flat with my PC hooked up to a 40" TV but thanks as I hadn't even thought of that, he built his first PC last month as well and has been into PC gaming since he was old enough to watch, his 1yr old sister is the same she sits and watches me play skyrim
