I don't know if this has already come up, or it is a duplicate thread, I took a quick look and didn't see anything so I apologise if there is already one up.

I know there is a thread for rants with non-technical people but this thread should be a little more general than that one I hope.

Where I work we have a forum for all the techs which is used quite often (I work in a school btw) and they have rant thread which has become a favourite of mine and I thought I would try and get the same thing going here.

I shouldn't need to explain any more that what the topic title says, but I guess everyone should try and keep it clean and obviously not mention names if that is what you are going with.

A few things which get to me are

- Toolbars which are ticked by default to install

- Toolbars which install along with ticking agree to terms and conditions

- Symantec warning you about "Potential threats" and not doing anything about it

- People who insist on using Norton because paying makes it better.

- CursorMania with sparkly trails (or trails on a mouse in general)

How about that awful stationary someone decided to use in their outlook and slows down everyone else's system when trying to open those emails.

- Owner bias. People who recommend things they own and are happy with to other people, without having context for what they own. "I don't know much about these, but I have this and I love it, I wholly recommend it."

- Clueless people who ask for help with their build, but then ignore all the advice they get and waste their money anyway. This often happens with i7s for pure gaming builds, or 1000w PSUs for a single GPU. These also tend to be the same people who look to the most expensive parts available or choose parts based on looks alone.

- Companies that get bought and go to hell. Youtube sells to Google and becomes a corporate whore with terrible redesigns that violate the basic tenets of site design. uTorrent sells to Bittorrent and becomes a horrible bloated mess etc.

You left off on installing software those Toolbars are not only preselected but require you to click the little box right in the center of it to unselect it, whereas to select it (install it) anywhere in the area of the box including the text listing the name of the Toolbar is allowed to turn it on making it easy for one to accidentally select it. SERENITY NOW!

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.
