I've been researching on what system I should buy for quite some while now and i have pretty much come to a proper conclusion. here are my final doubts, please help me out :)

1. what would be a good intel processor for $250. i would like it to have hyperthreading. suggest me one processor with and one without hyperthreading.

2. suggest me a motherboard. its ok if its cheap, all i need is for it to support crossfire.

thanks in advance

As an owner of the PC Mate, I will say no.

Why? Voltage limit, lack of LLC, visually unappealing, etc.

And how high would that voltage limit be?

also the second pcie express slot is only 4x speed so it will not be good for crossfire or anything better than say a R9-270.

And how high would that voltage limit be?

1.3V

It sounds fine in theory considering you shouldn't put much more than 1.35 in a Haswell/DC chip, but the board still isn't very good. And honestly, there are better boards in the price range.

What kind of work will you be doing?  Why do you need hyperthreading?

Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 - $250

Intel i5-4690k - $200-$240

Motherboard:

MSI Z97 G-55 - $118

Gigabyte GA-Z97X - $120

ASRock Z97 Fatal1ty Killer - $125

Asus Z97-A - $140

Asus Z97-AR - $150

If you live near a Microcenter, you can get great bundle deals on these parts.

I will be mostly gaming, no video editing, And hyperthreading is just a creature comfort. might as well go for it if I'm buying an Intel system

All you need is an i5, if you are dead set on getting hyperthreading, then you need an i7 which will cost almost $100 more.  Hyperthreading is something games don't take advantage of, with the exception being Watch Dogs.

Cannot agree more. I wish they'd drop the BS with the cheapest boards being blue. Just make them solid black FFS because black goes with everything.

I agree, make the least expensive motherboards be "color compatible" with every system.  If you want a colored motherboard, a $10 premium is not too steep a price to pay.  Some people will gripe, but it is a tradeoff I would gladly have to get an all-black motherboard at the entry price of $100.  I think the closest thing currently to an all-black motherboard is the Asus Z97-AR.

That's so annoying, thought all boards actually started to come with llc since Z87? Most cheap z77 boards didn't have LLC, was freaking annoying to deal with.
