Corsair V2100 vs HyperX Clouds

Go to solution Solved by BoltActionWaffle,

The HyperX Clouds are the better headset overall, but It's up to whether wireless is important enough.

I've used in the 2100s in the past, thought not extensively, from I remember the HyperX Clouds sound better, built better, and possibly more comfortable. (Can't forgot to mention the Velour pads they come with)

EDIT: My personal vote goes to the HyperX Clouds though.

It has come to the time when I am needing a new pair of headphones. I'm currently upgrading from a pair of Steelseries Siberia V2's (Black and Gold edition, meaning no 7.1 sound card).

As of recent (9/14/14), two of my headphone contenders are the EXACT same price of $79.99.

One of the reasons why I'm planning to get a newer headset is because I am planning to start using Steam Big Picture mode more actively with a 360 controller in my living room. From what I know, the HyperX may have long enough extension cables to reach from my PC to the couch (paired with my old steelseries extension cables). Secondly, I'm just tired of cables.

I am an avid FPS gamer, CS:GO specifically. I like to listen to music with high quality audio, although I'm not sure if I am getting the most out of my music with my Siberia V2's.

I am torn between the two, because of the features that I get with the HyperX Clouds. I get SO much bang for my buck, and I would not mind the inconveniences of wired headphones if they are up to par in terms of audio quality. Yet, the V2100s are wireless, and from what I heard, are okay quality.

Which of these headsets is better? My main dealbreaker would be the audio quality. Tight, clean sound. I like feeling my music.

Thanks guys, please vote and reason!

For the Cloud, would I need a DAC to hear the difference? I'm really new to the audiophile world.

You need a DAC to even use your headphones haha. Your mobo has an Amp/DAC already. Getting an aftermarket Amp/DAC combo honestly isn't worth the money if you have decent on-board audio already.

I've got a review of the HyperX Clouds and I used on-board sound rather than my O2 + ODAC. Links in my signature :)

Haha, that's why I was asking ! I read your review :P , and you said pretty much having a DAC pretty much improves the headphone quality because of the 60 ohms.

This is my motherboard. Do you think it's good enough?

Sorry for the late reply, looking forward to your opinion on the headset! Either PM me or post it on my review or something.
