Looking for a new speaker setup

Hey guys, as I am planning my new rig (finally got a good amount of cash on my hands to replace my 6 yo machine),

I'm also in the market for some new speakers, to dive in to the HiFi-world :D

My current setup consists of:

-Creative Recon 3D PCIe Soundcard LINK

-Teufel Concept F 5.1 Surround System LINK

I am considerng the following options:

1) Mainboard with premium onboard audio (so no extra soundcard anymore) + amp (?) +

2) Extra Soundcard (up-to-date highend card) + amp (?) +

3) External DAC +

a) 2 HiFi-speakers (300-400 €/$) and I reuse the subwoofer of my old system so I had a powerful 2.1 system.

ß) a new 5.1 system (same price bracket)

in addition to each of the options I am planning on buying decent headphones / headset for gaming and listening at night.

I know there is a lot of personal preference involved but please tell me what combination makes the best sense to you and please recommend some products.

I really like listening to good high-quality electronic music, which I want to enjoy as it was meant to be by the artist. But I also watch a movie or a series every now and then.

I thank you very much in advance and please excuse possible mistakes I made in spelling or grammar. :)

How will you manage the crosses? Would you be using a separate amplifier?

i use the DENON RCD-M39DAB (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-RCD-M39DAB-Component-Receiver-System-Silver/dp/B008JCIKXA) its a great amplifier (I would get the black one though) its really powerful, dosent clip and is just the best amp for a 2.1 setup. your subwoofer does have to be powerd though, i presume yours is.

Do you like your current setup?

If I were you I'd just buy a nice headphone and keep the rest of the money.

Well, I don't like my soundcard and I feel the need to upgrade on the music source for sure. Maybe it is all just "bells and whistles" but I consider myself a little bit of an audiophile and want to upgrade to my next setup ^^

My 5.1 system is a little broken here and there (remote doesn't work, amp on the rear channels is too weak,..) so I think it could / should be replaced.

Looks interesting. And how would I connect it to my PC? Could I use an Optical Cable and wouldn't need a dedicated soundcard anymore as the signal is just digitally transmitted?

you could use an optical cable, or, if u wanted to use an analogue connection, you could buy a RCA to 3.5mm jack connector.

Ah okay. Do you know if there's maybe something wrong with your audio settings? The sound card seems to be an okay product.

A good HT sub, speakers and amp can be a lot better than 'PC speakers'. Altough the Edifier recommended some posts ago is a good one, it can't compete.

It does save you a lot of trouble though, if you don't know how to correctly configure a speaker setup.

It's defenitely the multichannel-amp build in to my subwoofer, but I can compensate by turning up individual speakers in the driver.

Yep. Good HT /HiFi- Speakers are exactly what I want and I am willing to spend some time to properly install the setup. :)
