So I'm overclocking a 5820k right now and I've run in to an issue that I haven't encountered before. I have it set at 4.2 currently with a voltage set in the bios at 1.2. As soon as I start ANY stress test (I've used OCCT aida 64 and IBT so far) my cpu starts pulling upwards of 1.3 volts. Why is it doing this? I've tried with adaptive voltage as well and it doesnt change anything. I've turned the boost voltage offset to the lowest possible so it isn't that. Any ideas?

Is there a LLC option in your Bios?

Yeah but the LLC setting are new since my old Z77 rog board so I didn't really understand the settings. On my previouse board it was in increments of 25% and now it just says 1 through to 9. I set it at 3 and tried and it still gave me extra voltage.

if you put the base at 1.1 volts does it throttle to 1.2?

I'll try and see what happens. It turns out I was running a really old BIOS because my flash didn't work for whatever reason and I didn't notice. I just flashed again and it worked this time so I'll try it again with the new BIOS.

Does X99 feature adaptive mode?

Could just be CPU-Z reading things funny. Does your board have the voltage checkpoints? :P

I had the same issue it was a bios related issue for me so you should not have any more issues.

Yeah the BIOS flash fixed it.
