Greetings,

For my new business I require a couple of workhorse PCs so to speak. I am currently running a Node 304 case with the following specs, but it's starting to lack capacity:

  • Intel i5 4570 CPU
  • Noctua NH-U9B SE3
  • MSI H81I or H87I (I honestly don't even remember)
  • 16GB Crucial RAM 1666MHz "Sports" edition. Because sport works for cars, too.
  • Corsair RM450 PSU
  • WD Red 3TB HDD
  • Fractal Design Node 304

It's running perfectly, but I need a little more power, so I am thinking about building another two and stacking them on top of each other. The case has vents on either side but not on the bottom or the top, apart from the air intake at the front.

Would I run into any problems in the long run if I run a bunch of these cases on top of each other, in a stair-like fashion as to not block their air intakes? Space is limited here, so I'm keen to know.

Thanks for reading!

The only problem will be the heat.Since is going up the only thing it will do it making the top case hotter and hotter with each case.

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

If you do it stepped, as you stated, they should be fine. I wouldn't recommend it if they were directly atop one another, but so long as they are clear of each other then you'll be fine to stack them.

How limited a space is it? Could you use an ITX motherboard?

Mini-ITX as far as inside the case goes, the bigger problem is the actual room I have to put the cases.. :(

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to find out and make sure I don't have them block each other's air intakes! :)
