Hello kind people of the forums, I am back once again and I have some ideas to run by you guys. Now my father has been an avid fan of board and card games ( mainly low intensity games ), but recently he plays these games online with friends on an old crappy pc ( I didn't know he had it ), so for Christmas i wanted to buy him his very own pc! Problem is I'm on a tighter budget,so if you could come up with some build plans to help that would be great. The build would have to be under 450$. My plan was to use an i3 and a 650 ti. But feel free to share your opinions, my baseline requirements are that it needs to be small and powerful enough to do what he needs it for ( basically surfing the web, e-mails and low intensity games ) these are the parts I had picked out.

Intel core i3 4330

Intel heatsink and fan

Geforce gtx 650ti ( whatever's cheapest )

Micro ATX Intel motherboard ( whatever's cheapest )

Fractal design R2 Mini

4 Gb of DDR3 Ram ( whatever's cheapest )

450w PSU

Thanks for your help! ( if your wondering why I'm picking the parts now is because I'm going to have to save up for it.

I would go with "whatever's cheapest" but from either Asus, Gigabyte or Msi (or ASRock) for the motherboard.

Also, be sure to buy a good quality power supply. At least something like the 500W Seasonic Energy Knight.

Will do, thanks. But what would you guys change about this build? A pc part picker list would be very much appreciated.

Don't go with the 650, get something with a little more oomph. If you can, wait and get an NZXT s340 case as it's cheaper and better looking.

The thing i don't think he needs anything more than the integrated graphics but the 650ti added some more reassurance. I'll have to have a look at the case, do you know when it will be released in canada?

I do not. Any idea what games he plays? I would just wait and get whatever the cheapest 900 series card, they're coming out soon.

If you're willing to get an AMD 6800k without a descrete GPU then we could probably make it a bit cheaper.
