I thought they were starting to implement it on mainstream devices across platforms. After all, it's Intel's propriety.

That's the plan but it seems mainly Apple is implementing it. I think ASUS is the only company to be doing Thunderbolt for PC, well excluding Intel boards.

Perhaps the real problem is the fact devices with thunderbolt tend to be quite expensive, and eh... USB has solid foundations regarding data transferring, even if it's slower and even then you always have firewire.
