Ergodox....worth it?

Hi guys, I have a question for those keyboard gurus here, and it's about an Ergodox. I've been offered a fully finished and functional Ergodox with Korean 62g springs, white stickers, lubed Clears with acrylic (I think) case with aluminium top.....all for about 320'ish USD (local $ converted to USD). Worth it? :unsure:

It does look good, to me anyway, but curious as to whether it'd be good to use and of good value....latter being relative of course.

The kits to build these go for around $200 with plastic tops. Aluminium could add between $50-$100 depending where you buy from. ErgoDox-specific keycaps can range from $30-$50.

All that for the parts alone. Throw in a little extra for putting it together and I think $320 is a pretty good deal. I've seen them go for ~280 USD on eBay.

Hmmm, been told half the fun of owning an Ergodox is the assembling of it, still mentally wanking off over this. :wacko:  Anyway, just got back with my second Novatouch and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Bumble Bee set.

They are AMAZING I have 4. 2 use ALPS, one has a Ergo Clears, and the other, reds. They are really fun to build. And the typing experience is great. I do agree though, half the fun of owning one is building it and exploring all the different possibilities. One of mine currently has a wooden body (work) and a leather wrist rest. Two have the extended aluminum top piece that acts as a wrist rest. The last is all clear, (clear case, clear keycaps, clear switches, and soon to be clear switch cases (cherry RGB switch cases.) Three of them are painted and I used a bunch of different screws to play around with the heights and angles. They definitely took good care of the board if they put in stickers, lube, and custom springs. Albeit I do this to my boards too, but it seems like a good buy if you are just wanting a great typing experience. They also make good game/macro boards. I sometimes prefer mine over my Orbweaver.

Yeah, I've considered buying some but honestly I think it's a very fun project and I'm personally gonna try and build one early next year.

sounds like you need to ditch the pcb and hard wire it (not sure how stiff the acrylic plate is so it may not feel good typing on it if you did)
