I'm creating my first build and I'm not entirely sure how much I want to spend on my gpu. I want something that'll beat any non-gaming specific pre-built PC being sold at retailers for the next 5 years? Money isn't really too much of a problem I just don't feel comfortable spending over $400 on a gpu, especially when I'm primarily a console gamer and seeing how this year a new console will be released I don't wanna blow off too much money. I would rather have a 660 for now and eventually SLI it later on when it becomes needed to compete with 680 performance or am I just lacking the balls and just buy a good 680 right out, but also what would be the best 660 to sli?

My build:

Thermaltake lvl 10 GT

MSI Mpower Mobo

Intel 3770K (Gonna OC to 4.6 ghz)

16 (8x2) GB Corsair Vengeance

2x MSI 660 ti PE (gonna over volt not sure how much the maximum is for it)

dvd combo drive

120 gb SSD Corsair Neutron

1 TB Hard Drive (not ssd)

Corsair H100i

Corsair CX750M

You should never get a 680, get a 670 or 7970/7950.

Regardless of that I'd look into getting a 7870 LE. Should beast mode through everything right now at 1080p and you can add another in a year or two when you feel its needed.

Yes, a 660ti or a 7950 would be more ideal than a 660.

Any 660ti/7950 would do well, I would recommend looking for a good cooler like from MSI and Gigabyte and also look at the warranties as well.

You can look for the warranties at the bottom of a Newegg page for quick looking.

660ti I would recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125441

7950 I would recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414

Again, you can look at brands like ASUS, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI and Sapphire. I prefer EVGA/Gigabyte for Nvidia cards and MSI/Sapphire for AMD cards. The reason why I prefer these brands to others is because of past customer support experiences, the overall feel of the card and the warranties that come with.

Even a 7770 will have better graphics than any console coming out over the next generation of consoles.

In 5 years time the way Intel is pushing on the graphics side nearly any pcie based graphics solution at the moment will look standard or obsolete by then so its a tall order specially for a mid to high end graphics card that being the gtx660.

X79A GD65 (8D), 3820, 7770, 16GB (1600Mhz cas9), 850watt(ocz zx), storm trooper, h100, xonar xense, sp2500, pc350, asus PA248Q LG 22'' ips, razor black-widow ultimate 2013, 120GB intel 520 series 128GB crucial M4 2*3TB barracuda 2*1TB barracuda 2TB Hitachi

try looking on ebay, you can find really good stuff at the price you wanna spend. I'd recomend not going with dual gpu's, having a single one is much more stable and uses less power(less heat too) so you dont need as big of psu. I have a galaxy 680 gc that i went to from 2 7870's, i get less performance, but the price i got it for reflects that.

AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!
