Better Graphics or Better Screen Resolution?

I was just wondering if you prefer having better graphical settings or a higher resolution (I know you can have both). For example you could either run a game at ultra on a 1080p 60 display or medium at 1440p 60 which would you choose?

Personally I would choose Ultra and lower resolution.

You can do more with a Resolution then you can with better gaming graphics mind you have the power to do so though.

I would take native resolution over graphic fidelity any day.

1080p is fine as long as it's either a decent IPS or gaming TN monitor. I don't see as much of a need for 1440p until you're looking at design and editing.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

As long as Ultra @ Native (assuming native is 1080p), I would take that over medium at 1440.

I play at 1080 ultra everything, there is no way i would drop to medium settings just to game at 1440, 1080 is fine as long as you aren't sticking your face too close to the screen. Bad for your eyes!! Having said that the next screen i buy it will be 1440 just because we have reached a point where any halfway decent $500+ GPU can put out decent frames at 1440, i wont jump up to 4k until a $500-$700 GPU can put out 60 FPS. Not sure how long i will be waiting though  ;)

On my HD4600 iGPU BF4 on 1080p is ridiculous of course, most would use 720p, however this still only hovers around 35-45fps and dips a lot.

So Now I'm currently running BF4 @ 1024x768 with 45-60fps average and those pesky dips mean nothing to me now.

If its all you got, it's all you got.

In my case lowering the resolution benefits me with a smoother experience,...better than being pretty and slow on limited hardware.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Graphic detail over high res any day of the week.  I mostly play in 900p (native res on the TV I'm using as second monitor) and frankly I can't stand it when FPS drops below 40, so I'm happy to play ultra at that res, and if I have to, I would go as low as 720p.
