Help with new PC build and plan

Babypowder

Hello there!

I have posted many threads asking for help.
I am finally able to start purchasing parts. I would start with the cheaper stuff like RAM, Fans, cooler, etc..

So! I wanted to share with all of you, my plan and later on, once I get all my parts, post updates!

So! I wanted to get some help with the plan for the PC.
I mostly will use it for High-1080p gaming. I have a 144hz refresh monitor, and I want to game at 1080p. I like to stream, and I also use some visual studio 2013, with a bit

of Vegas 12 for video editing, mostly for school.
I might wait for any news on the GTX 900 series, so I won't buy the CPU, and GPU till the end.

Now! What do you guys think of the build? Im staying with the i7, but I want to know if I should:

1. Change my PSU to the AX860 (not the i version) for 20-30 dollars more from the RM850
2. Should I get the 780, 770, and if I do wait for the 900 series should I get the "980" (Also, would the 780Ti be a better inversion since I want a good single card)

Here is the part list (I haven't purchased the Noctuas, but I might since i want to have them in Pull with the H220x):
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z4TBFT

Thanks!

I would prefer the evga g2 850w psu instead of that rm psu, change the motherboard to a Msi or Gigabyte Gaming 5, and wait for the 900 series instead.

I would prefer AMD cards instead of nvidia due to the cost now... (amd cards are able to stream to twitch too)

Pretty sure Nvidia cards can greatly accelerate video rendering, so they may want to go with team green.

i dont like pro line of samsungs ssds as much as the 840 evo it has much better price to performance and you dont need to spend that much on  a motherboard IMO

Im sorry xnoobftw, but no.. I don't like AMD GPU's. Sorry.

Going to stay with nVidia.

Yeah, I'll probably switch the SSD for the normal 840 EVO. Do you guys think it's better to spend that extra 100-ish for the 500GB version?

I chose the ROG MOBO simply because I want a red/black color scheme. I know... I know... But... RED AND BLACK! So prutty ;/

I could change to the z97-A from Asus, but, I don't know if I should since I really want the things to match haha. (And I really trust Asus. Also, Gigabytes is not that red-ish)

Do you guys think that the AX860 (not the i) is worth getting over the evga g2 one though? Is it better than the RM850 and the EVGA g2 since it's a

Platinum rated PSU?

Current Build:

Why dont you like AMD gpus? :o

About the 500gb you'll have to decide for yourself ( do some calculations and see which one is cheaper per gb)

The MSI gaming series MOBOs are pretty sick too and they are cheaper than ROG gaming boards (and msi has a red bloody dragon. A RED DRAGON COMON D:)

EVGA g2 hands down. There were people having issues with the ax860 (having the PSU's caps blown off when booting) while evga PSU have never received any complains (as far as i have seen)

I agree, ROG motherboards are .... expensive. BUT THAT COLOR SCHEME ;ccc

Now, changed my RM850 for the g2 Thank for that advice guys!

Now... I really need to find a new motherboard that has a nice red and black scheme. I just love the asus color scheme,

I don't know if MSI is reliable.. ;/

MSI is reliable too ( i personally have a h87 g43 and it is great! (DO NOT ASK ME WHY I HAVE SUCHA SHITTY MOBO D:) )

And honestly speaking ASUS is only SLIGHTLY better than MSI in terms of reliability (but you have to pay like $100 more for the same thing) so it is up to you :)

I have the GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 motherboard and I have had no issues with it.  There are definitely a lot of features that I have not even tried out yet lol.

INTEL i7 4790K | GIGABYTE GA-Z97X GAMING 5 | A-DATA 16GB | PCS+ R9 290 | SAMSUNG 840 EVO | MOMENTUS XT BARRACUDA |  FRACTAL DESIGN R4

Yeah, I agree.

What's the news on the GTX 900's? This week or next week we are awaiting announcements?

I might go with the ROG just because I think it's shanzzy... Yeah.. It's expensive, but it fits me and I like it.

MOBO is ~200,  CPU is 339, and GPU should be like 500-700?

What GPU would you guys go with? (Nvidia)

780, 770? (780ti)

I want to get the best single card for 1080p, 144hz refresh while playing my games on ultra.

Thanks!

Go with the 780ti if you wanna go the 144hz route :)

See, I don't know if that's worth it, since I am gaming at 1080p and want ultra, but i think that the

770 or 780 can/would run 144hz

I'm running a 144Hz monitor and a GTX 770 from ASUS and I love it, although the framrate in games highly depend on which game you're playing(duuh). In games such as LoL, CS:GO, Dota 2 and so on it easily handles AT LEAST 144 FPS. In other games such as Rust it runs at somewhere around 120 FPS and in BF4 it's probably an average of 90-100. Even at 90-100 FPS in BF4 everything seems to run smooth even though it doesn't have the horsepower to max it out at 144 FPS. I don't know if that's any help, but I thought I might just pitch in with my experience :)

Yeah, I was planning on maybe making this the actual build log later on haha

OH! YEA! Wait for the 900 and end up buying the 780ti? Maybe.. haha, depends if it goes down in price.
