Lower temps pretty much equals longevity however Xeons are designed with stability and longevity specifically in mind so I wouldn't think it matters.

They don't come with stock coolers. Also you can OC them with the baseclock.

Can you increase the baseclock of every xeon or just on some models?

All of them. Actually you can do that on every CPU, because it's set by the motherboard, not the CPU.

Ahhhaaa so if you choose an z87 or z97 you can increase the baseclock but if you choose an h97 chipset you can't ok.

I always though it's not possible on xeon's.

i am pretty sure at least some of them do...if they are boxed...  like the most popular 1231v3

its not worth to buy cpu cooler if you dont mind the sound it produces.

FSB overclocking right.

You still call it the FSB? I think it was replaced by DMI 2 mainstream sockets ago.

And I think you still need a Z-series board to modify the BCLK. I just checked a manual for an H81 board and it doesn't have those settings.

you would have to buy the stock cooler extra i think.

and then you would be better of buying another cooler.

no, boxed 1231v3 comes with stock cooler 100%, its similar size box as if you buy like i7

if you can find xeon without cooler and if its cheaper, naturally get it + aftermarket cpu cooler

The e3 1241 costs 10$ more and has 3.5ghz. Is it better to go whit this one or whit the xeon e3 1231?

for those 10$ maybe get better z97 mobo and try raising baseclock on stock voltage yourself

A z97 Mobo is already in, so it's better to save the 10$ and put them into some other parts.
