UPS Canada customs fees/taxes?

Any Canadians here have any experience ordering from the U.S using UPS? I've always been told to use USPS instead because fedex/UPS charge crazy customs fees and taxes etc. Anyway i just bought something from someone and i thought it was going to be shipped with USPS but it looks like it might ship with UPS....

Don't ever, ever use UPS when you're shipping things from the US into Canada. They'll find a way to screw you out of many dollars.

Customs fees and taxes are set by the government. You'll pay them regardless of the carrier. Sometimes you get away with no import duty, depends who scans the package through.

What UPS charges is brokerage.

I've had brokerage fees cost as much as the value of the item.

Well From my experience ( I live in the USA btw) The usps is horrible about shipping times and in general is bad to order from but seeing as your from a different country It might be better to use The usps

USPS from the U.S to Canada seems to be great from my experience. I'm just afraid of UPS after reading other peoples experiences... =\
