Hi,

After building my computer I realized that my CPU cooler won't let me close the PC. I would like to know if it is a big deal. For now, the computer is in a horizontal position so the side panel is just "covering" the PC. I'd like to know if it's a big deal in terms of cooling (air flow, pressure) and dust, and if you have any "solution" for this issue. The CPU cooler is about 2 cm too high, so most of the PC is covered.

Thanks

Thank you all for your quick replies :-)

Your components may get some more dust, but taking off the side panel is actually better for the thermals

OK but would it have an impact on the airflow in the case? I have 1 fan in front of the case, and 1 at the back (there's room for another one at the back though), so do you confirm that having the case not entirely closed won't have a negative impact?

what case is it? you can always mod it to fit a larger cooler

Sorry I can't find the actual model name, but the brand is Advance, and I can't even find their official website.

Duct tape?

Sounds like a plan. I'll definitely do that if I don't have any other solution.

That or perhaps get a shorter cooler, (One of the reasons I like watercooling, never any clearance issues with the side panel, only sometimes with the mobo.)

You probably can find some duct tape that matches the color of your case somewhere which would possibly turn out semi nicely.

Yes, and using a lot would even "prevent" dust from coming in.
