intel i5 4570 vs amd fx 8320/8350 in rendering and editing?

im not going to repost my build again lol im using a gtx 660.

this build is (for right now) gaming. im a freshman in college majoring in interective media & design (graphic arts, photo/video editing, web design and maybe animation). im not sure what programs i will use.

i will not be replacing any of the parts i have any time soon after the pc is bought. i am currently going to buy an 8320 but im hearing intel with its 4 cores and hyper threading (i believe the 4570 has hyper threading) but i cant tell if this is just fanboys talking or not. most people seem to agree that intel is better if you can afford it and with the 4570 being the same price as the 8350, if i was to switch to a stronger processor should i go with the 8350 or the 4570?

is there a need to switch cpu's(8350 or 4570)? i can fit it in the budget if you think i should. also if you think i should swap for an intel could you recommend a mobo?

try a 1230v 3 over a 4570. isn't more more money and will beat the 8350 the 4570 doesn't ahve hyper threading but you could go for a h97 motherboard.

The 4570 does not have hyperthreading. You should get the 4690 instead though.

I would say the 4690/4570 if you can.
Though I think you could benefit from the 8350 with the 8-cores. Anyone?

4570 does not have Hyper Threading, I'd get the FX 8350, I hear it's pretty good with 3D things and does well with content creation.

i would say the i5, although it doesn't have hyperthreading but it will still beat the 8350, i would recommend a 4690 because it has all the features as the i7 4790 but no hyperthreading

If you only did video editing (You said "for right now", so I'm really not sure of your future situation), then I'd say get the 8320 or 8350.

However, as an owner of a 4670k, I can tell you that it's worth it in all areas. Video editing is a small bit slower than an 8350, but most applications (Even some multi-threaded apps) will be faster with a 4670k.

If you do extensive, or even casual gaming (depending on how casual), I think you should go for the 4690/4690k and a good h97/z97 motherboard (Depending on if you're willing to OC).

This video [At 24:15] (not as a whole, but the summary) gives some good ideas.

There will always be applications were more slower cores will be better than less faster cores.  Think xeons.  Graphic arts and photo/video editing are some of those applications.

Now I'm not comparing xeons to an amd 8350.  They are worlds different but the cores/speed is a relevant comparison.

yea i was thinking if i needed a stronger processor. the step above the 8320 was the 50. and at the same price i could get the 4570 or a 4590(which is also the same price so im not seeing the difference.) if i NEEDED to i could certainly go up to a 8350 or 4570 but im not sure if i should or which one. also i dont really want to go over 200 for the cpu

i'd rather not go up to an 4690 (for cost reasons). is the 4570 really > 8350? and would it be worth going from a 8320 to 4570?

8320 is an underclocked 8350 so it's not worth it to go with a 8350, a 4570 would have better single core performance than the 8320 or 8350
