So a while a go a bought the 6800k for my build, since I have a 5850 that I am borrowing from my brother til he finishes his pc. However, the other day I took out the gpu to test how bad the apu was compared to it. I couldn't run bf3 at 60 frames on 1366x768 on the lowest settings, I was probably getting 30-40 fps. Could this be because I only have 1600mhz ram or is this just normal performance from the 6800k?

Specs:

CPU: AMD 6800K Black Edition

RAM: Ripjaws X 8gb 1600mhz single module, plan on getting another stick later on

PSU: V750

Motherboard: Asrock FM2A88M-HD+

HDD: WD Blue 1TB

EDIT: sorry I accidentally did 2

CPU: i5-4690k GPU: 280x Toxic PSU: Coolermaster V750 Motherboard: Z97X-SOC RAM: Ripjaws 1x8 1600mhz Case: Corsair 750D HDD: WD Blue 1TB

have you tried over clocking the ram? 1866 is normally the minimum for apus

Probably your RAM. JayzTwoCents benchmarked the 7850K, which is pretty much the same, and got a lot better FPS. I consider 2000 MHz to be the minimum for APUs, and it should also be 2 sticks.

So would it be worth it to invest in buying 2133mhz RAM?

Yes. And get a 2x4 kit like I did, dual channel doubles the bandwidth.

Yeah I thought that would be why I was getting bad performance, thanks a bunch. Would this RAM work well? http://www.msy.com.au/home/13437--kingston-hyperx-predator-khx21c11t2k2-8x-8g-kit-4gx2-ddr3-2133.html
