this is my first post om this website, i want to plan a build but first i would like to cover some points

1. i want to build a rig for gaming but i want it to look good (case cables etc.)

2. i dont want to build a beast, i plan to upgrade it in the future, meaning i want a nice case, good motherboard and cpu. everything else would be cheap for the moment as i can upgrade it later without problems.

3. im not looking for a budget i already did my research i its within my budget

4. the most important thing is that all the parts are compatible, i dont want to have any problems.

ok my fist question,

1. whens the better time to buy a ivy bridge???? since the hasswell hasnt come out yet (i dont want a haswell)

2. i want a liquid cooling system, i dont want it outside the case

ok now this is my planned build, i plan on adding an ssd, more ram a better video card, maybe a bluray

mother board - msi z77a-g45

case - xpredator  x3

cpu ivy bridge i7 quad

power supply - ocz fatality 500W

ram - corsair vengeance red

hard drive - black caviar 500gb

tarjeta video - nvidia geforce 6xx series

optional - liquid cooling cooler master 120xl

1. also i would like to know if im missing any components

2. if the case is large enough to have liquid cooling inside (i already looked for photos)

3. also if you know a better component and cheaper that goes with the red/black theme that i should substitute

i know its a lot to ask but any answers would be welcomed. thanks a lot!!!

Right off the bat, I would say depending on what type of video card you will be planning to upgrade too, the OCZ 500 watt might not be enough. That will do fine for a middle ground card, such as a 660ti or less, but if you plan on going 670/770, or SLI, you will want a better power supply for sure.

Your parts work together but I highly suggest you tell us your budget so we can give you some more recommendations.

Also, are you doing any type of rendering/editing on this rig?

would 750 be enough? i was debating that same thing myself

750 is overkill for anything that's not sli/crossfire.

my initial budget would be $900, as i said i plan to add parts. for now a $130 would be enough since i dont mind running games at low quality, i plan to updgrade in a year after i get the rig)the video card) (since i cant have $1200 right of the bat, and i would not like to do that)

if gaming is your main goal with 900 you should be able to get a very well performing system ... might i ask why the more powerful cpu but less powerful gpu configuration and not a less powerful cpu but more powerful gpu configuration with the possibility to upgrade cpu later

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))

Personally I would go with a haswell chip set and would step up the power supply to a 750 -850.

yea another possibility, i could buy an ivy bridge i5 quad core and overclock it with liquid cooling? would that be an viable option for gaming?

Gaming builds are less about the cpu and more about the gpu.

Here you go: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/10Vf1 $823

There's a $20 rebate for the gpu and $10 rebate with the psu.

only problem is the components are not red and black and he wont get any overclock on that board  however that system would be damn awesome at gaming

yeah actually it makes more sense than getting an i7 and a weaker gpu because, as it is right now core i5s (even the locked ones) are plenty powerful even if you are using very high end cards.

ok so no overclock for now but you have a nice upgrade path. you can upgrade the cpu later to an i7 or even a unlocked i5. you can also upgrade by adding an ssd.

with this build i tried to keep with the red and black theme (note the case u dont have to use that one. use which ever one u want)

The components are mostly black with a hint of red from the gpu/ssd I guess.

It's up to the OP but $10 more and he gets a red mobo: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/biostar-motherboard-b75mu3

I know it's biostar but don't bash if red/black balance is really that important :P

The actual difference an overclocked 3rd gen i5 and a non-overclocked one isn't that big considering the price gap of 3470 and 3570k + cooler.

I could find a way to fit it in the budget though. I just wouldn't recommend it.

Mostly black mobo

Black RAM

calculated 100$ for the case, that's up to you.

Nice GPU

Fine PSU

Good and highly overclockable CPU. And newer games tend to take advantage of more cores.

Sligthly over budget [Mobo color / ram color mostly]

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...

actually biostar boards have very low return rates i believe ... while they may be cheap they seem to be doing it right

Yeah--they get bashed on too often.

Perfect for red/black themes with budget in mind. :)
