sudden reboots

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

since its a sudden reboot

event viewer shows "kernel power"

did all that the PSU doesnt seem to be at fault since it can handle the CPU at full load just fine

all stock

everything

Are you using two separate cables for the two GPU power connectors?

Are they plugged into the proper 12v rail?

Have you tried increasing the power limit and core voltage?

Have you tried reinstalling the graphics card drivers?

my friend's computer gets sudden reboots (no bsod)

sometimes in bios

which causes constant reboots (not posting)

but sometimes it works and loads windows 7 just fine but a reboot happens when furmark runs

almost immediate reboot or a few seconds and then a rebbot when GPU is on load

prime 95 doesnt cause any reboots

no overheating is occurring

all stock clocks

i suspect the GPU is dying but i normally encounter artifacts in a dying GU

this GPU doesnt show any artifacts what so ever

so im a bit confused

specs

i7 950

asus mobo

GTX 580

9GB ram

1000 watt Corsair PSU

Is the GPU getting hot? Doesn't sound like it but wouldn't hurt to ask... maybe your CPU power lead or 24 pin are loose? I've had that happen to me before... Power supply might also be causing this... Maybe check the power cord coming from the power strip, it might be getting loose and causing your power strip to think something is pulling too much power, this happened to me too.

do you have an overclock on any of your partts?
