Hello everyone.

I'm new here and would really appreciate a quick suggestion. I plan to buy a new gpu today but I'm kinda confused with what I should go with. I have narrowed down the choice to GTX 650Ti and R7 260x. Can someone please suggest me which would be a better choice? And these are the only 2 I can afford. Also will a 1GB VRAM be sufficient for modern gaming or will I need to go for 2GB?

Thank you.

Take a look at the GTX 750 Ti, its about $150 or less for most models and is a very powerful card for the price.

2GB of VRAM, some models require no 6 pin power connector, very small card, still more powerful than the two you listed.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

No it does not. And it uses 3x more power and creates a ton of heat. And it's louder.

Depends on usage, for some things the 260x is better, and for others the 750 ti is better.

Overall the 750 ti wins as it uses much less power and outputs less heat.

I thought it was a remake of the 7850 which i know beats a 750ti, the 270 must be it, don't worry then.

I'm sorry but I live in India where gpu is a luxury thing. So 750Ti is way overpriced here. So I can only choose between the ones I mentioned.

Could you please tell why? I'm sorry if I'm being too rude but once I make the choice I cant change the gpu for years to come. So I don't wanna make a decision I may regret. I hear 260x gives a tad more performance but the 650Ti consumes 15 watts lower n gives almost same performance with better shading.

If you have to pick between those 2 cards (GTX 650ti and a 260x) I would get the 260x. But if you can stretch it to a 270, it will last you a lot longer.

Look at the video. The 7850 is also benchmarked and performs worse or equal to the 750ti

Can you please tell me the difference between the two? As far as I have searched, i found tat 260x has higher clock speed but runs a lot hotter. Where as 650Ti runs cooler and is easier to overclock which can be brought near the clock speed of 260x. Also the nvidia has the physx. I know 260x mantle and true audio but I have seen very few games supporting it

It actually stays ahead in most games, and thats just one bench mark.

If you watched the video you would know that is it NOT only one benchmark. It is at least 4 different games, all in which the 750ti performs better.

Plus, you can overclock the 750ti a ton because it uses so little power and creates so little heat. So basically you can get a 5-10% performance increase over what you already see in the benchmarks.

I did watch it but idk who the fuck that guy is, least anandtech is a reputable source. I know for a fact that the 7850 perform's well and it oc's good. It is not even hot it idles at like 36*C on 30% fan.

Why don't you actually look at real results.

Well digitalfoundry is a reliable source too, not just anadtech. All graphics cards are compared on the same system, no bias at all.

If you seriously are going to bring absolutely irrelevant facts like idle temperature, you need to learn a bit more before starting an argument. What matters is the load temp. And the 7850 has load temps at least 10C higher than a 750ti.

Also, I highly doubt you can push a 7850 more than 50 or 75 offset on the core. On the other hand, you can reach 150+ offset on a 750ti easily because of how cool it runs, and little power it uses.

And I do look at 'real results' aka the link you gave. And the 750ti performs better in 90% of the games listed there. When you overclock it, then it will definitely perform better in 99+% of all those games.

I saw the video. The 260x comes close to 650Ti so I assume it would perform better than 650Ti. I would like to know how the physx work? On nvidia will it impact the performance drastically or will it be a small compromise? I have used only GT 210 before n it sucked. So I'm really new to this physx and mantle stuff.

The 750 ti is often way behind the 7850 and only matches the 7850 in some games at best. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-review,3750-13.html

Those are pretty old benchmarks. They also used older unoptimised drivers for the recently released 750ti, while the 7850 had been out for along time. Loo at the anandtech benchmarks. They are much more reliable than tom's hardware.

Point? I said I haven't seen my one go over 60*C. It has a clock of 1000/1400 (stock is 925/1250) I haven't moved volts it just to gain a few frames for a smooth 60.

I was playing BF3 today and under 80-90% load it got to 55*C. Case temp is 32*C. Dual X cooler from sapphire is good. Oh and fan speed was 45% (set on auto).

My point is the 750ti gets better fps in the majority of games (as you showed in your anadtech benchmarks) compared to the 7850 and 260x, while running cooler, quieter, and using less power.

I think you are trying to pump up the 750ti to levels beyond and above what it really can do.

It's possible to find R7 265 around the price of the R7 260X and GTX 750 Ti, right? I'd get the R7 265, but if you can save and wait, then maybe a R9 270(X)?
