Need new PSU

Go to solution Solved by Epitome,

I would consider the EVGA 850W G2

Looking at getting new PSU in the coming months as this one i think is about to give in. Was on holiday so missed the memo about the whole unbranded/crap PSU thing. Looking for 700W to 1000W of power, 2 EPS connectors cos my board can support it, many PCI-E connectors, and individually sleeved cables.

Any brand but not hugely expensive. Keep budget under £150 but if must go higher then i guess i will have to. Majority of my buying is on eBay, but unless anybody knows who gives you a haribo packet when you buy something i that'll be great.

I want the power so that when my GTX 660s go i can continue the dual GPU adventure with two other cards.

Current one is a Powercool PC-750AUBA-B
+3.3V @0.3-24A

+5V @0.3-24A

peak output : 199.2W MAX

+12V1 @1.0-16A

+12V2 @1.0-18A

-12V @0.3A

+5Vsb @2.5A

There you go. Damn thing makes a racket during boot. Grinding and vibrating. might as well get a new one. woo 1,000 posts!

Don't bother with newegg links since there stuff is never available in the UK. Why go for that over the EVGA one?

A decent 850W is enough for any dual card setup. As mentioned above, the EVGA Supernova G2 is very good. You don't need to use both EPS sockets unless you are going for huge overclocks (As far as I know)

I would like to fill the second socket anyways.

Pick up and EVGA SuperNOVA G2. Best bang for your buck. ;)

£95 on Amazon UK, not too bad i guess.

Yes the EVGA 850g2 is fantastic and I would definitely recomend itto you

*10 year warranty

*Very quiet

*Has an Eco mode

*12v Rail

*Fully Modular

*80+ Gold certified

*Not too expensive for such a great product

Can you get fancy sleeved cables as well for it?

Having both of the cables connected will give the cpu more power if it needs it so Its worth connecting

Oops, sorry. I didn't notice you were in UK.

That EVGA PSU is also great. I'm just a big supporter of SeaSonic and 80+ Platinum is amazingly efficient.

I have one and its of a fantastic build quality. So i'm going to have to disagree with you there.

You are still wrong  ;)  The NEX is a totally different platform, and is made by a different manufacturer than the G2/P2.

You're right. It's a horrible power supply and that why me and seemingly everyone who bought it love it. After all you do own one and obviously know more about how it is compared to someone with first hand experience. ;)

You don't usually need it though. The single EPS should be fine for most systems, unless they are trying to squeeze as much out of the cpu as possible.

You got it.

RM 850

Don't like the RM 850. Flat cables are nasty.

So people on Newegg are more reliable than a dedicated review site ? Erm ok.

I stated that there are better options than the NEX. Just because it is EVGA doesn't mean it is the same as all the other EVGA psu's.
