I have an r9 270x, exact model here: http://www.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-radeon-hd-r9-270x-b1-90924-1011.htm

I have used GPU-Z and GPU temp.

On idle my temp never go below 40c, my room temp is 27c, I have plenty of air flow in my case.

I have looked around and this doesn't seem to be a normal temp for the gigabyte model.

if any one knows why this is, or if it is just normal for this card, some feed back would be great.

PS: i'm getting a NH-D15. should i use the nt-h1 that comes with it to replace the compound on my 270x?

Idle temps are not important. My 290 idles at about 40 45 c after a gaming session but doesn't get hotter than 75 under load and it's oced.
Load temps matter the most

@AlwaysFSX

The fans are spinning. as for curve i'm not sure what you mean.

fan speed curve is how fast the fans will run at different temperatures (eg: at 40 degrees the fans will run at 50%, at 50 degrees the fans will run at 55% etc...) programs like asus ai suite 2 or corsair link let you customize this.

  • 1 year later...

I have a Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X model. Idle temps are concerning seeing as Nvidia is usually my go to brand for GPUs but the guys here are right, idle doesn't matter (well, not much). I hover around 40 C on idle but usually don't go past 70 or 80 while gaming.

APOLOGIES. I don't know how I ended up on this old thread. My mistake.
