I plan on building a new M-atx build sometime in the near future.

Budget & Location - $1000, Canada

AIM - Will be designing and building a AMD Kavari A10-7850K duel graphics mode M-atx rig (for a medium performance build to do basic 3D drawing, music, internet, basic games etc) with earth & natural colour scheme theme. will be making my own case from Aluminium sheet and exotic materials. (budget case bought for templates and dimentions)

Monitors - single 24" @1080p

Peripherals - not at this point aim to get a Ducky brown switch keyboard in future

why i am upgrading - its not my main gaming rig (already got that) its more a project build rig so i can custom build a case from alloy, lexan, copper, plastics etc.

list of parts below

m/board = Asus A88XM-plusCSM

6tmzw7.jpg

http://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/A88XMPLUSCSM/

reason ( best m-atx APU m/board out there with the right colour scheme (brown, copper, earthy etc) i know there is the Grython but want to be different and do a APU build.

cooler - Zalman copper fin

160a6pc.jpg

cheap, effective, copper, maybe change later

APU - Kavari 7850K

24ex25s.jpg

Memory - A-data XPG V2

k2gw2r.jpg

extra graphics support (duel graphics mode) XFX Radeon R7 250X core edition (DDR3) as it works with the APU and is an extra 2 gig of graphics memory.

2eyj1au.jpg

so that's just a few of the components.

most likely will be doing some custom paintwork and maybe different cooling .

everything about a build can be endless but usually budget will cap what you can do.

any suggestions? and i am not sharing the case design just yet as i don't want copycats :P

got to love Asus components

Please don't buy an APU then a dedicated GPU...

That GPU is designed to work as "Duel graphics mode" they have to be DDR3 apparently and this is about the best one that works with the Kavari.

Buy a cheaper CPU and a better graphics card and you will get better fps.

I would recommend going with a non apu and going with a higher end gpu, the Crossfire APU and GPU will not get better performance than a dedicated gpu and a separate cpu. I will make you one in a second

I should maybe also explained in the intro that its not for a high end gaming machine, but more a eco build to run a APU in duel graphics mode, just because, most people don,t and want to be different, and also the colour scheme, the m/board you suggested is very much the blue scheme (seem my main gamer specs it is a M5A 99FX pro R2.0 board and so want to go for a new gold / browns / greys scheme.

This is not for gaming, more for doing 3D drawing, music, internet, utube, basic games.

good suggestions and it is always possible to do a custom GPU at a later date to get more performance if needed. the APU is good and even though its got semi ok graphics onboard i still would always pair it upto another card for a boost in performance.

another sugestion is to use all the super cheap components and custom paint them to house them into a custom case i am going to build, but then it would be just assetics and not actully do much performance, so hence the APU build with a half decent m/board.

other option is to go with the Grython, then it would be common as many people have done a Grython build.

Thanks for your input guys, help is accepted.

only way i can see doing that is to change over to intel as i know there is also some m/boards in the same colour scheme, but not many have the power derlivery.

wanted to do the AMD APU / duel graphics mode just for the heck of it as nobody else seems to do it and its different to others.

its not designed for ultra performance.

-snip-

We understand your crossfire apu and gpu idea, but is it worth it? Why not just buy a beefier CPU and a GPU individually?

The reason why nobody do it because it doesn't worth it, an FX-8320 and an R9 280 will blow that combo away for the same price, even in 3D computer drawing

EDIT: Here's my example but is an intel build with the same mobo color that you like

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($284.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Motherboard: Asus H87M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($99.90 @ DirectCanada)
Memory: A-Data XPG V2 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($164.99 @ NCIX)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($86.65 @ Vuugo)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($54.97 @ DirectCanada)
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280 3GB DirectCU II Video Card  ($229.99 @ NCIX)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($49.99 @ NCIX)
Total: $971.47

nice and yes i have looked into the intel build. looking at the H87 m/boards like the one in the list you picked, only thing i look at the power derlivery on the boards and they pretty bog standard stuff. to get a good one it would have to be something like the Grython.

or looking back i am sure when Z77 was out they had a nice m-atx deluxe board from asus, but since H or Z87 no m-atx deluxe boards that i know of. only full size. or H & Z97
