Go to solution Solved by D2ultima,

Select IC Diamond thermal compound, the 1TB 7200RPM free upgrade and the Wireless 7260ac card and you're good to go. If you have a little more you could grab a mSATA SSD or an OS. It should be fine and is a 13" so it'll be pretty portable.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SUGGEST

So I am looking for a solid laptop  around the $1000-1100 range I was looking at thishttp://www.amazon.com/N550JK-DS71T-Full-HD-Touchscreen-Laptop-Aluminum-Body/dp/B00IAA5BSS/ref=dp_ob_title_ce  but the price makes me a little uncomfortable especially when I have a powerful desktop. so any suggestions would help

things I am looking for

dedicated gpu

has a more professional look

is easy to do maintenance on
is fairly light and portable

also please do not suggest the y50 I don't want something that screams  a "gaming laptop"

thank you

Try configuring some lenovo laptops on their websites. They definitely don't look like a gaming laptop, more businessy.

Lenovo y50

I wouldn't say it "screams gaming laptop", compared to something such as alienware or razer.

To me the y50 does not have much of a "Gaming laptop" look, sure its got a red backlight and red accents, but it does not have anything that would class it as a "gaming laptop"

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

+1. Pretty much any Clevo/Sager would be suitable here, almost all of their gaming laptops look pretty business-like.
