Hello guys, wasn't sure which sub-forum to go with on this one, so Admin's feel free to move it if you wish.

So I'll be moving to a different city in a few months and having never transported a PC before I wanted to know just how much of a hassle am I in for? Or might it be best to just sell it to someone locally before I move and build something new when I get to my new city? The move would be about 12 hours of highway driving with me in my own car and my dad driving a U-Haul, so no moving company or postal shipping going on here.

Full specs are below, but the main things (I think) I have to be worried about are:

  • Video card (660Ti), will definitly take that out first.
  • All-In-One liquid cooler (Swiftech H320), any risk of it leaking?
  • HDD, will the bumpiness of a day on the highway damage it?
  • PSU shroud is not fixed to anything, just sits there, so that probably has to come out, right?

I don't have the original boxes or packing materials anymore, my initial thought was to put the tower and monitor (Dell U2711) in the back seat of my own car and buckle them in. Anybody with experience have suggestions? Or would it be best to just try to sell it here and build something new after the move?

Thanks, as always.

Pics, if it helps:

It will be fine

take out any loose/hanging components and wrap them in paper and inside a jumper or something and the put them in a cardboard box

It would easily survive the highway, how do you think pre-built PCs get to peoples houses? they are thrown in and out of lorries, on and off pallets etc etc
