Crazy CPU temperatures (256 degrees?)

I'm having a weird/funny issue... I'm using CPUID HW Monitor and I just realized the max. temperature on my CPU was 256 degrees for Core #0 and 201 for Core #3... is this a CPUID problem or a problem with the sensor on my motherboard/CPU?... I know these arent real temps because if they were I would be cooking french fries using my CPU instead of the kitchen....

Broken sensor. At 256 degrees it should be melting if the THERMTRIP hasn't kicked in yet ;P

Try a different monitoring program and compare the results. If they both show 200+°C then the temperature sensor is broken. There is no way your CPU is actually running that hot, it would automatically shut down/throttle.

Yea looks like the temp sensor is dead as you couldn't have 2 cores at 200+ and the other 2 at just under 40

256 sounds like a default max it can reach. most likely software error

these sensors are usually broken,i also get a chassis fun running at 634000 rpm or something,no tornado has formed yet
