GPU upgrade ?

Go to solution Solved by Ardacer,

That's true a dualcore would indeed be fine, but not any dualcore, these guys are a bit old.

Anyhow, thanx for the politeness, you're too kind. :)

that alienware has a i3 that's gonna perform really nice, and that gpu is better than any of these cards  you'd buy.

enjoy your now pc :)

You can get an r7 260 which will be much more powerful. but it's 100. Anything below a r7 260 just does not make sense from a price to performance ratio. It's a waste of money.

I guess the 250 will just have to work. However I would suggest buying a nzxt source 210. Cheap but great case. Then get a 270x. lol But do option 1 if you don't has money.

The only thing I know of is the power color 7770. However I don't think anyone sells it anymore.

You'll have a hard time finding a really good card that performs well and occupies just one slot.

Here's a Gainward GTX 750, single slot of course.

Galaxy too offers a single slot card, a GTX 750 Ti. But I can't find a link :)

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

Yeah I figured. But I would definitely go with the 750. It would completely shred a r7 250. So why not wait another month and save up?

What games do you want to play with the card? It might be worth for you to save up to a 750 (Ti).

Edit: afaik, galaxy also has a single slot 750 Ti

i play league firefall bf3 and plan on fallout dmc4 darksouls 2 .. honestly if i dont get a card ill try to make money and either build a pc or see if i get a job by then and ask my mom to finance a prebuilt ... and give her my laptop.. i know if i had like 20 hours a week ..i could get a pretty good dell i know ts overpriced but it wouldnt be bad.. am i right

20 hours a week at minimum wage you can have a beastly system if you wait 2 months. That is if you don't have much to pay in terms of bills. $800 builds are the sweet spot for price to performance.

Sorry, I know what that is like. I was in that situation for a while. I misread you comment thinking you had less than 20 hours a week at your current job.

nope but its okay i do sidework for freinds and nieghbors i make a few bucks here and ther and im also planning to sell alot of my console stuff and also sell all my cards that i dont touch anymore. idk hopefully i can get around 200 after its all said and done .

Save up for a GTX 750 Ti, you will seriously regret getting the R7 250, it's not worth the 90$.

thats the plan i decided to save for a whole new system and put a 750ti from evga which is the ftw the overclocking is amazing

Gtx 650ti is more solid.

650 ti is behind in power compared to the 750ti

the 750ti is actually just on par with it. However consumes much less energy and overclocks much better.

really everything i saw put the 650ti behind not by much 3-5 fps usually its not bad but the evga acx one blows apart the 650ti you get a extra 10fps over the stock in some games

if I'm not mistaken 750 ti is the most powerful card not needing any power other than pci-e. something to consider. Also probably no point spending more on more powerful gpus, that core 2 duo will bottleneck them badly

I've seen I think 7770 used for around 80 bucks, and some nvidia cards for around 50 in that range, used.

I'd try to get one of these guys used, problem is finding a single slot card. I'd perhaps even buy a bit slower card AND that nzxt case.

(lol look at this bad boy

at the time it was best buy hands down to pair with core 2 duo.)
