Are these two games worth playing anymore? They say a good story and the community is what makes up a game. Neither of these two really have a story to them so I guess we're left with the community. Does it seem like the community in the two ruin the experience for newcomers? I see in many videos on YouTube random people killing new people with no gear on them for no reason and having.....ahem....sexual relations with them in a weird way. This, and a VERY slow development process. So what do you guys think?

Now, you know what you can expect from these barbarians. They are a race of rabid BASTARDS that will fight us tooth and nail! But they don't know what they're up against. Cyrodiil, is CIVILIZATION! Cyrodiil, is ORDER! Cyrodiil is POWER! And out here, WE. ARE. CYRODIIL.

if you like the idea of a game that's been in alpha during the course of its whole sales cycle then buy DayZ.

if you like the idea of naked men with rocks running around in fields then buy Rust

How long do you think it will be until they get DayZ into beta stage?

@ThatFatMan1911 To be completely honest, Day Z is one of the most fun games I've ever played. It's so unbelievably interactive, and it can get extremely tense and involved. I've never really met 'online friend' until I played that game, I joined up with like 10 guys on vent at one point and we pretty much conquered everything. You can't truly appreciate it until you learn how to gear up, but if you're into zombies and tense situations, man is it a fun game. Plus, it's rumored to raise in price as it steps through phases of the game (beta, final, etc) so it really is worth it to buy it now and toy around with it until then.

Well the game is a pretty good selling point for me and a gaming pc. I plan to get one this holiday season or a little after the beginning of 2015. If you want, and feel like waiting, you can add me and maybe we can play the game sometime then.

Definitely, man. I had a budget gaming rig so I sold it and am rebuilding currently, so I won't have my build complete until ~December anyway. I will definitely play with you then!

Rust: well they're rebuilding the game from the ground up AFIK

DayZ Standalone: there just isnt enough in the game for me to go back to it, havent played it for a decent length of time in 3 months

The DayZ mod for Arma 2 has far more to it, several decent mods with a large player base; Overwatch, Overpoch, epoch, origins etc

All these offer far more than what the Standalone will for a very long time, to me they're just dicking around with development for almost a year of the game being out.

The Breaking Point mod for Arma 3 also is a far better option for gameplay, guns, atmosphere, and active development

Standalone is the one game i regret buying, coming from playing the mod for almost 2 years with friends

Looking for a job

To be completely honest, I bought both of those games and wish I hadn't. Neither have developed much further than release, which considering how long they've been on the market, is rather disappointing.

I couldn't recommend putting money down on them, especially when games like H1Z1 are around the corner and already include all the stuff that we're waiting for in DayZ (and will be free to play!). Not to mention the engine that DayZ is on is pretty bad.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

Coming from the mod I most definitely understand, but imagine going from the standalone TO the mod. I was extremely overwhelmed and it almost seemed like there was too much going on. The clunkiness of installing it and how long until I actually got to play it completely put me off.
