Is guild wars 2 good?

Hey guys, as i'm currently building my rig i'm looking at some of the first games i will get. i just want to know how good gw2 is, i'm coming from ps4 and loved final fantasy 14 a realm reborn.
i hear there's no monthly fee for gw2, so does this effect the amount of content added to the game?

i never really got to pvp in ff14, i don't think i would be in to it that much, i much prefer they way people come together and help each other out.

So GW2 is more of a pvp game then?

They add content every month, and you get it for free.

 

It's a great game, it just couldn't keep me interested. I wish it had a sub-fee so they could hire more people and do way more with the game.

Stick to FF14 if you want a great end game pve experience. The raids are really really good and I doubt you have completed them all as the latest ones are really difficult.

I think it's a very good game and I wish more games followed its payment model. But the server vs server PvP and structured PvP is probably where the appeal is. The living story and fractals of the mists dungeons are decent, but it isn't a hardcore raiding mmo.

I know more people who play PvE as opposed to PvP and every time I go into WvW it's barren.

 

Guild Wars 2 is entirely PvE centric. Hell even watch Angry Joe's review;

i'm really stuck as what to get, guild wars 2 seems like the one i might get, but i'm also debating world of warcraft, i know it's old but i can get the complete edition with all expansion and a pre order of the next expansion all for £20.....decisions decisions...

WoW is much better, the combat feels more complete and in-depth and GW2 tries to stop you having to really speak to any characters and makes the world really pretty but really boring. I played first as a human and getting to level 40 on that was painful, killing Centaur after centaur after centaur drained the life from me.

Yep I agree. The only reason I dont play WOW is because it takes up too much time to get anywhere and being at Uni doesn't allow for that much time, so I stick with Runescape

For me it's because of bankstanding. All about the bankstanding. I should do more uni work, especially since I'm going into my final year haha.

I also played on the day of release(well, 7 days after release). I played for about two weeks and quit playing because I didn't know what was available.

 

I came back 2-3 weeks ago and I've already wracked up 200 hours(and that was actively doing things, not idling), and I haven't touched PvP and WvW except to see what it's about. The whole thing with leveling is you aren't suppose to go kill everything, that isn't how you level with Guild Wars 2. You level by doing map completion, completing the story missions and harvesting materials for crafting. In about 8 hours of playing, I can level a brand new character to 25 just by doing story missions and adventuring around the map. If you just devoted 30 minutes to watch Angry Joe's review, he goes over EVERYTHING Guild Wars 2 has to offer, from PvE to PvP and WvW. He goes over the leveling system, and combat and dungeons. He even compares it to WoW and says the flaws or advantages GW2 has over it(Spoiler: combat is much better in GW2).

 

Sorry guys, but you really shouldn't say why X or Y game is bad just because you've played on the day of release and haven't played for 2 years since. MMO's change, A LOT. Guild Wars 2 now, is an entirely different game than it once was.

 

@leelaa14 If you think WoW is the better deal, then by all means. But with anything you do, you should really look for proper reviews of the game to see how it is. Even though Angry Joe's review is dated, he goes over the basics and what else GW2 has to offer. Some of the things he complained about in the review has been fixed as well.

 

Oh and don't forget you'll be paying monthly for WoW as opposed to GW2, which is pay once and it's yours.
