Video card help

The 780, since XFX is meh.

Hello! This is my first time posting on these forums, so this may not be posted in the correct place but i have a question for my build.

I am deciding on two graphics cards currently, the XFX Black Edition R9 290( http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=93750&promoid=1046 ) or the Asus Direct CU II GTX 780 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121779

i just need help on deciding which one to go for.

if you have any suggestions for other graphics cards in that price range ($425-475) it would be very helpful.

The 780 will get you better performance but the r9 is cheaper, your choice. Either way they will both play games exceptionally well

CPU: i5-4690k GPU: 280x Toxic PSU: Coolermaster V750 Motherboard: Z97X-SOC RAM: Ripjaws 1x8 1600mhz Case: Corsair 750D HDD: WD Blue 1TB

780

Oh don't feel any need to explain...

Anyway, either card would be great I am however leaning on the side of the 780 simply due to the quality of ASUS components and the features it offers. Again the 290 is a great card that, if you chose it over the 780, has a great cooler and would still perform well but not quite as well. :)

Don't get the xfx. Get either the tri-x or vapor-x from sapphire if you want to OC. The 780 is simply not worth the extra cash. http://www.ncix.com/detail/sapphire-r9-290-edition-1000mhz-ac-94897-1046.htm

780.  I'm kinda partial to Nvidia, but it is a really good card and Nvidia has some nice features like Geforce experience, g-sync, adaptive v-sync and such. the 290 is a great card as well, but doesn't perform quite as well as the 780.

I don't know what you're smoking man. They are virtually neck and neck at 1080p, at 1440p the 290 pulls ahead by a significant margin because it has 4gb of vram.

I'm not smoking anything.  I'm saying how the 780 is good.  Through research after you're very harsh comment, I do realize that the 290 is better, especially if you bump up the resolution, but I do still feel the 780 is a worthwhile card.
