Would the i5 4440 bottleneck an overvolted overclocked r9 290?

The 4440 is a pretty nice CPU. I'm 99% sure it will not bottleneck the 290.

Edit: Just make sure your Power Supply is up to the task. Also make sure you have plenty of ventilation for your GPU, the 290's a pretty warm card.

I'm planning to sit on the i5 4440 and 1 r9 290 for quite awhile before i change my MOBO and get a K CPU (with another r9 290 of course :D)

I think you'd probably be fine in most games. At the end of the day, if you plan to upgrade to a K-CPU in the future (maybe with Broadwell or something) then it will be plenty fine for now - any bottlenecking wouldn't be significant.

What motherboard are you planning to get right now? Because if you're going to get a K CPU later on, you might aswell get a Z97 motherboard now instead of having to buy a cheap one now and then later another. SO I would get the 4440 and a nice Z97 motherboard. Such as the Asus Z97-A. ($145 USD on Amazon)

I'm using a h87 g43 (no idea why i got this MOBO) and the i5 4440! I'm actually planning to sit on this and the r9 290 for about 3 years before i swap my CPU and MOBO out for a K series and another r9 290 for xfire!

Oh so you already have the CPU and the Mobo? Ok I see. but yea, the 4440 should do fine with the 290. It's a pretty good CPU. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

You'd be fine for the most part. This CPU is plenty to take advantage of what the R9 290 can offer. An overclocked k-part i5 would be better to make sure you're getting the most out of your investment (though after reading one of your post, you already got the 4440). I've got the i5 4440 and it's a wealth of power.

All I'm saying is that there are games out there that will be bottlenecked by the CPU no matter how far you overclock even the latest Intel parts. For instance, some RTSes can't get more than XXfps in them, but the fact remains.
