Hey guys :)

I'm not totally sure on what to get but here I go

This is the monitor I plan to buy

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=28308

I'm open to other suggestions I would prefer a ips to a tn

Anyway should I get a r9 290 or r9 290x from the red team or a 6gb 780 or wait till the 800 series?

I would prefer to go with a single card at this price range.

Haven't worked out budget yet :)

Thanks guys

A single card, standard 760 or AMD equivalent and up (770 and up for more demanding games), should give you a decent playable frame rate (The 760 hovers around 40fps on Crysis 3 so less demanding games should easily hit 60fps, especially without AA (it's not like you really need AA anyway)). Anyway, you don't need lots of VRAM to play at 1440p unless you're doing a multi monitor gaming setup.

You should wait until the 800 series comes out before making the decision though.

Maybe in Europe I have never heard of them in the US

Benq is a well known brand. Get your facts straight please.

OP, get the 290 since it offers the best performance for your money.

Ok if you say so but they don't even sell them in stores in the US

You can still buy their products from Amazon, NCIX, Newegg, ect...

Also, I guarantee at least 1 store sells them in store. The US covers a lot of land, just because they don't sell them in your area doesn't mean they aren't sold (in store) in the rest of the US.

Also, I think Benq monitors were used for MLG before they started using ASUS monitors. I could be wrong though.

Not in the US. They mostly use Asus

BenQ is  well known in the US. I think what you meant to say is you live in the US and you haven't heard of them. They are well known for gaming monitors in the US and as the sponsored monitor for MLG tournaments. They have been for sale in the US for many years. You can also buy them at best buy.... which is in the US....tiger direct, amazon, newegg, walmart ( I am pretty sure this is a large US store), Frys (US store), the list goes on and on. I think you  must buy monitors at 7-11 if you have never seen them. I bought 2 of them from best buy probably 3 or 4 years ago and they are currently in my garage.

To the OP, I am sure it is a good monitor, but If money is a concern, and you want to game at 1440p save the extra $200 and get a Qnix (SINGLE INPUT!!!!)with a Square Trade Warranty. You'd be half way to a second video card which would allow you to game at 1440p and 120hz. You'd also have a PLS (pretty much the same thing as IPS)  monitor that can overclock when you want to do that.

If money is a concern I would buy 2 used 290's and a Qnix monitor and you'd  spend less money compared to one new 290x and that benq, and you'd have a better setup for gaming at that resolution.

R9 290 EBay= $225

R9 290 EBay= $225

Qnix QX2710 Single DVI-D input= $300

Square Trade 3 year Warranty= $35 (with coupon or $50 without)

_____________________________

Total=$785

Brand New 290x=$500

BenQ Monitor $500

_____________________________

Total= $1000

The Qnix has a 6ms response time and is overclockable to 120hz (bare minimum of 96hz but most will do 120hz)

The benq has a 4ms response time and will remain at 60hz.
