I'm looking into replacing my current cpu and motherboard with a newer 6 core setup.  I have over 1k to spend on a cpu and motherboard and found a deal for 998$ (Asus Rampage Black IV + Intel Core I7-4930k) Or should I wait for the new x99 ROG + cpu?

Well do you really need it right now? If not then it shouldn't be a problem to wait for something potentially better

The most common result of insufficient wattage is a paperweight that looks like a PC
