"Preparing to configure Windows"

Hi,

I've noticed over the past few days my computer has been pestering me non stop about Windows Update. I kept on saying "Ask me in 4 hours" or whatever. This morning this popped up and I did the same. A couple of hours ago I was downloading some stuff while loading up a GMod server, then my computer all of a sudden turned off and configured an update before turning off. It turned back on saying 'please wait'. A couple of minutes later, it said Preparing to configure windows. Just over an hour later, I turned hard reset my pc (held down power button). I turned it back on, and voila, it came up again. Any ideas?

Sorry, it just worked miraculously, sorry! Mods, this is why we need a delete post/thread button!

*sigh* How about you let it update next time? MS changed something now so you can only put off updates for so long before it's done automatically.

Let Windows Update do whatever it needs to.

Windows update will only let you delay for up to 7 days. After that it will warn you that it WILL shut down in X time no matter what you are doing. Thats what it did.

I've been running vanilla 8.1 for a long time no, zero notifications.
