I have a Razer Ultimate 2013 keyboard which I plan on upgrading to the new Razer Chroma keyboard when it comes out. With the Chroma's ability to change it's color, I'll be able to have purple backlit keys which I think would go much better on a white keyboard than a black one. So to avoid possibly ruining a new keyboard via an improper method or because of a lack of experience I'm going to recolor my current keyboard first.

I need a recoloring agent that applies thin(so the keys don't rub against one another), and that won't wear due to normal use.

I've been thinking about a white vinyl dye.

I would love some input and other ideas!

The keys would not rub as they are really far apart on a mechanical keyboard

Plastidip is probably your best option, remove the keycaps, tape over the switch and spray (might be best to fully take the keyboard apart)

I don't think plastidip is a good idea for a keyboard, it'll wear.

Not sure, if you are not spraying the key caps then it should be fine

I do plan on recoloring everything, yeah. I know you said plasidip wouldn't be too thick, but the keys only seem to have a few millimeters space between them at their widest point. It seems to me as if plastidip ends up fairly thick if you do more than a few coats, which seems needed.

I plastidipped my black widow ultimate. It did some weird things on the inner edges but for the most part it worked.  Just disassembled it 4 screws and 6 or 8 plastic clips.  Forgot to leave the top right unpainted for caps/number lock.

Mine's a 2012 edition (blue backlights).  The i just put some masking tape over the blue logo at the bottom and voila.  Something unique.
