First time posting one of these things so hope I give you all the right information. I read the forum post about boot up and tried all those steps before doing this post.

Here is the issue, whenever I try to turn on my computer it never turns on at first. Usually I have to turn the power on and off, flip the plugs around and hope for a miracle that it turns on. My friend helped me build my computer a year ago, it has been going on since then. We thought the problem would be the wiring to the power button itself. So we ordered a new wire, soldering it in. That however did not fix the problem. It still only turns on half the time. I also originally before trying to fix the wire, replaced the case and we moved all the components into the new case. That did not fix the problem either. My friend suggested that it might be either a faulty motherboard or power supply. However I would love to have a good educated opinion so that I could just buy the one part the first time. At least I hope it is not a bigger problem.. Also I have checked in multiple houses and multiple differing outlets to see if it was a problem with the outlet itself, that turned out to be false. I have also replaced the surge protector as well. Oh and I have never overclocked my computer, not sure if that is prevalent or not.

Having a computer that is so fantastic for my needs, but only turns on half the time. And usually always put it in sleep mode when I am gone instead of turning it off is annoying to say the least. Especially since I love cleaning out my case every month. If anyone of you fine, highly intelligent, gentlemen or ladies have a suggestion I would greatly appreciate your time. If there is a solution found and I find out what is wrong I will surely mark the correct answer.  :D

Thanks

Damn that PSU is overkill...

I'd think it would be the psu or motherboard.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out how I could possibly narrow it down to figure out which could be the problem. So I would not have to buy both. Also: whenever the power is on the green light always is lit up in the computer itself. Was not sure if that was useful information or not.

Thanks, I went to the Asus Sabertooth Z77 Website. I have previously gone there to update the BIOS to the latest version. But I also updated for the first time the chipset. Which seems to have solved the problem. I have turned my computer off about ten times now. And it now turns on the first time I hit the power button. That is odd that it fixed it, but I am glad it did.

Updated To: Intel Chipset Driver V9.3.0.1021 for Windows XP 32bit & XP 64bit & Win7 32bit & Win7 64bit & Win8 32bit & Win8 64bit.(WHQL)

Just an update: My computer started doing the same thing again so I replaced the motherboard, it still would not work. So I replaced the power supply, and it still did not work. Then put the old motherboard in with the new power supply, nothing lol. I can not think of anything else it could possibly be.
