What else are you running in your system? It's definitely possible to run 2x 7870's off a 650w unit, but you'd be getting close to overloading it if the rest of your components consume a lot of power.

650 watts will be the minimum to run dual 7870s

but it will be much better option of selling your GPU and getting a single 290

650W is plenty, especially since linus ran a 780 and a quadro in edzel's rig on 550W.

And to all the people telling him to sell his card and get a 290, screw off. dual 7870s is just as good, cheaper, and runs much cooler. (yes, I'm talking to you @dragoon20005)

plus, he asked about dual 7870 psus, not 290 psus

The HX PSUs are actually quite solid. 650W will do perfectly fine in your PC with another 7870.

Agreed. Everyone says when getting new PC that you can crossfire in the future if one card is not enough. Then when someone asks about crossfire it's always get rid of the old card and get one new more powerful one bruh

Like seriously, people need to get stuff straight. Two 7870s (R9 270) will do just as well as a 290 if not better at 1080P. Crossfire is not the end of the world. It may use more power, but that's about it nowadays. Cards have good coolers, PSUs are adequate, and games are much better optimized. It's a lot cheaper and easier way to CF then to run one more powerful card if you already have one of the two cards.

well i do know the dual HD7870 will be great for 1080P gaming and it faster than the 280X and close to the 290

it only when you want to push higher res

and you hit the 2GB VRAM wall

I build system like this and it sucks the HD7870 cant play 1440P :/
