Sound card output question

So I done goofed when buying a sound card, was in a hurry during my lunch break and bought a sound card without really thinking about it properly.

I bought a creative sound blaster: Audigy Fx - Product page

I got it because I want to be able to run my speakers and my headphones out of the back of my PC, without having to mess about with wires when I want to switch between the two.

On closer inspection of the manual inside the box and actually thinking about it properly I doubt I can run both out of the same card.

so the crux of the problem is: is there some way I can have both speakers and headphones hooked up to the rear of my pc and switch between the two without unplugging and plugging in jacks? maybe plugging headphones into the soundcard and the speakers into onboard and switching between the two? ideally i'd like to have a reasonable degree of certainty to avoid opening the actual cards packet, so i can return it if nothing can be done.

for information, the ports on the graphics card are:

-Line in

-Microphone

-Front out/ headphone out

-Rear out

-centre/ sub

Does your case have front audio jacks? You could of course use both the card and the integrated chip, but it can be a bit bothersome to go into Control Panel to change the default device (not as annoying as switching cables behind the PC, of course).

That would definitely work, but like Verne said you could also hook up the front panel connector.

I have been using my front audio for my headphones, but I keep my case (define R4) on top of my desk so the cable dangles all over the place and annoys me

If you want something a little more convenient and are willing to go through the hassle of returning the soundcard, the Syba DAC has a switch on the fron to go between headphones and the rear speaker connections.

Edit: ebay if Amazon is out of stock

You should have bought Asus Xonar U7 external soundcard,it's mindblowingly cheap for the amount of features and soundquality. You can connect both 7.1 or 5.1 or 2.1 and headphones at the same time and switch between them by pressing the buttone on soundcard.
