Ask the publishers who made that decision, ask why halo was a huge success even though it was XBOX exclusive, had ridiculous auto-aim and ran at 30fps. And keep in mind that developing for PC takes more money and time, especially if you optimize a game correctly.

It's *supposedly* coming to PC in March of 2015. Honestly though there will be no such thing as "exclusive" soon.

Except for first party titles.

I hope they do as well, It would seem only stupid for them NOT to release it to the PC, they are trying to make a sort of WoW kind of mmo, but with shooting and other things added.   And PC completely dominates that market.

The same has been said about every single Halo game that hasn't come to PC.

Wait, have they announced that it's not coming to PC? Because I've been hearing they're working on a release but so far it's TBA.

Whenever Bungie was asked about a PC port, to my understanding they always say something like this: "We like the PC and would like to have a PC version, but don't expect one."

I personally haven't heard anyone officially say a PC version is coming at all.

Halo was the only reason to buy an Xbox really...

They should release on PC, that'd be awesome.

It looks interesting looking forward for it. Is there any multiplayer?

>fps game

>is there multiplayer

The whole game is multiplayer, it's sort of MMOish, but not really.

I don't care if it comes to PC or not, I had plenty of fun playing it on PS3 (and my PC couldn't drive Destiny anyway).

they earn no money from PC game sales, but they have a huge profit margin for Xbone games and Live subscriptions.

fewer games on pc = more console gamers = more money for M$ and $ony

Looks like borderlands to me, but fortunately it doesn't set place in a desert for the rest of the game.

I bet Bungie knows how much they could make, but I think there's a *puts on tin foil hat* conspiracy with ActiNovision and Micro$haft not wanting the rest of the Halo series on PC to boost Xbone sales.

Except for first party titles.

Maybe for Nintendo, fact is with the increased price of creating games, it's almost suicide to not open up the market. Hence why Microsoft had to pay $250 million for the next Tomb Raider, and that will only delay it's release to other platforms.

Exclusive tiltes, actual first party exlcusive titles, are still needed. Maybe they will port them to PC, but a game that was created in-house by SONY or MS would never get to the other platform. Those games are not created to make a profit, they're created to make the platform more viable. Consoles are so similar that it comes down to fanboyism, features (lol) and exclusive titles. What reason would there be to purchase an XBONE over a PS4 right now if there were no exclusive titles?

Again that makes the argument only in Nintendo's favor. Most in-house developed games for Sony and Microsoft are mediocre and not selling points for consoles. Microsoft and Sony rely on third-party to keep their platforms alive. Without making these 3rd-party titles exclusive they have no reason for people to buy their systems. A lot of the time Nintendo is criticized for it's limited third-party support but honestly if any of the 3 consoles is to survive coming out of this generation it will be Nintendo. Not like it'll last much longer anyway, I'd say 2 or 3 years and a new console comes to market.

The games that you call "mediocre" may be a system seller for other people. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus definitely weren't mediocre, people buy the console just for HALO, just for Gears of War. Yes, without third party software the PS4 and XBONE would be dead by tomorrow, but the first party development makes the difference when deciding which console you choose. Let's be honest, most people buying a console are not interested in Pc gaming. The only question for them is: which console do I buy? And that's why first party titles are still necessary. The dude-bros out there will flock at the XBONE because they heard that they get a few exclusive bits in the new fifa game, the halo fans will buy it because halo, many people will buy an xbone just because they get the CoD dlc early, etc. The same can be said for the PS4, people will buy it, well, because it's a stronger console at a lower price point, but also because they want a next God of War game, because they are still hoping for the last guardian and because they want something similar to the last of us. They buy the console based on exclusive titles and then buy all their 3rd party games on that system as well. And that's why you can make a first party exclusive game at a loss, it sells consoles and future games for you.

-snip-

The key word is "most" while Halo and God of War are major selling points for consoles. Their lackluster future entries are starting to cause them to fizzle out. The increase in PC gaming profits and population has mostly been due to a lack of reason to buy the recent consoles. There are a few games that really draw attention to the consoles but not as many as there used to be. As par your example of Shadow of the Colossus. In previous generations, the amount of titles and their general scope and level of effort was a much bigger selling point with a lot more to offer. In the more recent generations there has been a lot less that both Sony and Microsoft have been offering and most of the examples people give for why they bought their console are third-party titles. Such as The Last of Us or Uncharted. Consoles also are losing the edge that they had before as well. PC's are just as viable to play sitting on your couch with your friends and having a good time. Plug and play is just as simple, and hardware conflicts are slowly becoming less of an issue. PC Gaming isn't necessarily the future of gaming by any means but consoles are showing they don't have what it takes to be the future either. Besides, how many more games are they going to "remaster" before people realize they are paying $60 for something a PC can do by changing the graphics preset from Medium to High.

I totally agree with you on everything you just said, as a PC gamer. I didn't buy a next gen console and I doubt that I will for the next year or so. But there is a huge number of people who simply don't care about PC gaming. Some people don't even know that you can play games on a PC, and they would never think about putting one of those huge, beige boxes next to their TV. Some people don't want to be bothered with driver updates, they don't want to spend more than 400 bucks and they don't want to fiddle around with graphics settings. Most of these issues are being tackled with stuff like Geforce experience, downloading the newest drivers and optimizing your games for you, but most people don't even know that this stuff exists. There still is a huge barrier to entry when it comes to PC gaming and the "brand" of PC gaming doesn't really exist. People are not informed enough to see that PC gaming is the overall better solution, and they don't really care.

I think I'm just starting to repeat myself now, sorry. Anyway, I think we're actually of the same opinion, but I still see the gaming world dominated (at least sales-wise) by console gamers that don't even consider building/buying a gaming PC. We'll just have to wait and see how well this generation does and if people realize what has happened to console gaming. I think consoles will survive because of the stupidity/laziness of the average gamer, while you think that they're smarter than this.
