I have just attempted to build my first computer.  I tried to follow along tutorials as best as i could and i believe i set things up properly but i have a problem.  When igo to turn the thing on the PSU light starts blinking along with the power light indicator and a green LED on the motherboard itself...   The back fan and the PSU fan are both working however the front two and the top one are not.  My specs are as follows.

Motherboard: M5a97 le r2.0

CPU: AMD FX8350

PSU: GS800

GPU: Nvidia gtx 730(this is just temporary until i can afford a 770)

Case: Cooler Master storm trooper

Ram: Corsair vengeance Pro( 2x8 gbs of 2400mhz Ram)

Optical Drive: Some one i took of an old computer i dont know what it is but it shouldn't matter

Hard drive: Seagate barracuda 1tb

Extra Cooling: None

Now i know it will be nearly impossible for someone to tell me exactly what i did wrong but i was thinking that the flashing LED's meant something and if anyone knows what they mean it would be greatly helpful. Also it makes a slight sound when the LED's pulsate

Appearantly it is based on a quick google search, though it seems shitty as hell.

Yes the monitor is on and it is connected but it is getting no signal. the GTX was a typo i meant GT 730.  Ill see what i can do about the images... my cable management isn't the best though so if your some perfect person who has it looking amazing please don't comment on it(mine isn't that bad in my opinion though)

make sure that you have a good quality PSU for starters, make sure all of your cables have been installed correctly including ATX Power, CPU EPS Power, PCI-E (GPU) power (if required by the card) and all drive cables (Most probably SATA Power and Data)

Current System - Intel Core i7-3770k @ 4.5GHz - 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 - Corsair H110i GT - 2x EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ in SLI - XFX Pro Series Black Edition 1250W - Samsung 840 EVO 128GB Boot SSD - WD Green 2TB Mass Storage HDD - Fractal Design Define S Windowed Edition with Green LED Lighting provided by 2 Bitfenix Spectre PRO 140mm fans, and 2 Corsair SP140 Green LED fans - Samsung U28D590D 4K Main Monitor with BenQ GW2265 1080p Side Monitor

actually it's 4 o'clock here so i wont try to get pictures of the motherboard but if anyone else has any ideas as to what might be wrong i would love to read it in the morning

Check whether both the 24-pin and the 8-pin cable are connected to the mobo.

Reseat the RAM and see if that helps.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

it uses a four pin instead of an 8 pin... could that have something to do with it?

umm, that is a very low-end motherboard for such a power-hungry CPU. However, the cpu is on the support list so it should work. Strange that it doesn't.

So i fixed the problem with the cpu power(the 4pin wasn't all the way in) however now my motherboard just comes up with a green LED which stays lit. I did a little digging around and i found that my 24 pin connector looks to be missing a pin.  I know that old motherboards used to work on 20pins so i was wondering if it won't work because of the missing pin or if that is just irrelevant because the extra 4 pins don't do too much anyways?(im trying to be optimistic because i dont want to buy another PSU)

correction:  i have no idea whats going on... no matter what i do i can't get the PSU fan to turn on and the only indicator that there is power somewhere is the green LED on the motherboard

Pictures would really be helpful, but...the green LED is normal and the PSU fan shouldn't turn on until it is quite under load, Are you sure that you plugged the video cable into the gpu and that the power button is plugged into the correct pin on the Mobo?

The PSU fan has a light to indicate when it is working which isn't coming on. Also i short circuited the powersupply to make it turn on without the motherboard and all the fans (except for the heatsink and GPu fans) turned on along with the proper LEDs.  The video card doesn't require a cable .   the power button however is another matter. I haven't got the slightest clue as to how it goes in and the handbook with the motherboard doesn't say.  Ill look up how its suppose to go in.  Lastly i have 3 pictures but im new to this forum(or to forums in general because i don't normally use them) so i'm not sure how to get the pictures from my computer to the forum

IT WORKED.... the power switch was in the wrong way

Glad to help! Ya those pins are easy to mess up...for the longest time my power and HDD activity light were switched. But anyway, Happy Computing!

Is the gpu getting any power?

sorry i didn't notice there was a second page... yes the gpu fan is spinning i just went out and bought a DVI-D dual link cable(which suposedly works with DVI-I as well becuase my monitor is DVI-D while the GPU is DVI-I) before that i was using a VGA cable but it was old so i thought it might be broken however the monitor is still getting no signal.... I also used three different monitors

Is your monitor set to the correct input for the GPU?
