is buying a mechanical keyboard worth it if im a slow typer?

Depends on your perspective. Normally you buy a mechanical keyboard to improve your accuracy of every keystroke, the agileness and overall and fun experience to type day & night.

But they are soooooo expensive. Don't know if it's worth paying 8 times as much for mechanical. I'm currently deciding on a keyboard too.

They last 10 times as long too, (5 million keystrokes for rubber dome and 50 million keystrokes for most mechanical switches.) 8 times as much for 10 times the durability and extra comfort and speed? I think they're worth it!

For someone who doesn't type correctly, no. It simply isn't. If you want to learn touchtyping and want to type faster it might be a sensible investment, but otherwise (especially for gaming, since that's how many mechanical keyboards are sadly advertised) it's not worth it.

I'm tired. But let me tell you browns and reds are the ligthest Cherry MX types and they have40 ish gramms of actuation weight. Membran is around 30.

That depends entirely on the membrane. I've typed on some incredibly heavy membranes before (much heavier than your 30g).

I've had my cheap ass membrane keyboard for 10 years and it still works. I just want a new one because it became nasty and the cord is too short.

Are you making money off your keyboard? Then yes.

Are you only going to use it for (non-competitive) gaming? Maybe, if you have the extra budget.

It's much more comfortable and satisfying to use, you enjoy typing more in general and can find one a specific switch that feels the best for you. They also last much longer and allow changing keycaps, LEDs and more if you're into modding :)

Mechanical keyboards won't get as nasty too. Pop off the caps and you can clean them easily. You can look for a YouTube vid with PaulHardware cleaning a mechanical keyboard. The rubber dome ones, you gotta take it apart and clean the rubber sheet.

Yeah, but I read the reviews on newegg and amazon and no mechanical keyboard lasts... It's just worrying to pay as much as a monitor on Corsair K70 and have leds die out after warranty.
