ASUS DCU2 R7 260X Black Screen On Boot?!?!?!

RubyRoks

My brother recently bought the ASUS Direct CU2 R7 260X and, much to his dismay, he's been getting black screens upon windows boot. He's tried updating his BIOS on both the MoBo and the card. He's tried beta drivers, current stable drivers, Sapphire's driver...Basically everything. Do you guys and gals have any ideas on how to fix this?

In case it's an incompatibility with parts, here's his configuration:

MoBo: Biostar Hi-Fi A85S3
CPU: Athlon 760k
GPU: Stated above
RAM: 4GB GSkill Ripjaws 1866 MHz
PSU: 400W that hasn't caught fire, but it's Raidmax, so it's a matter of time
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit

So he can't boot the PC at all with the 260X in?

The only thing that works is the BIOS screen and safe mode. Otherwise, we've been doing the updates and everything through Teamviewer. We know that the cables are good, as they are the ones he was using before the "upgrade"

Oh I see. Have you tried the 260X in your PC?

No. The card wouldn't fit in my case

Wow, that's quite the case! OEM's nowadays eh? :P

Try uninstalling all graphics drivers from his system, then try booting normally from the 260X with no drivers, to see if it can default to aero-less 800x600 without safe mode

it was a clean install, but i'll tell him to try it. Whether or not he does is a different story
