HD 7870 for dual monitor setup help

Go to solution Solved by TechFan@ic,

o i c ty, what do u think about a dual crossfire setup for the hd 7870 or a single hd 7970, which is better.

what about the gigabyte hd 7870 oc version is it not as good as the msi one?

I would recommend a 7970 over two 7870s in crossfire, because of heat, space & scaling.

An overclocked 7970 is already almost twice as fast as a 7870 so you will have plenty of performance.

Also I don't recommend any Gigabyte or XFX card because they have locked voltage.

hmm i c i havent really tried the dual or triple monitor setup for gaming i just saw some vids and it looked really nice being surrounded by the game looked like a good idea so did u try the dual monitor setup and didnt like it? or u just dont like the idea about having that bezel?

Using three monitors in eyefinity can be really fun, but not two monitors, having that bezel in the middle of your field of view really destroys the experience.

If you want eyefinity get 3 monitors, otherwise just play on a single display.

hi everyone i am now in the process of upgrading my rig so that it can support a dual monitor setup, i was wondering if anyone tried the hd 7870 and can tell me what is the average fps u get when playing, my monitor atm is the samsung series 9 3D monitor that is 120hz and thinking for going for the same monitor for the second one unless anyone has anything else that would be better, since going for another 3d monitor is a waste imo cuz im not sure about the 3d experience when using a dual monitor setup. A quick question how many frames do u normally drop when going from a single monitor setup to a dual monitor setup using the same graphics card.

Thank You

I can't help you with specific frames and that but I will suggest that you grab a MSI 7870 HAWK as it is a ridiculous overclocker, looks amazing, has great cooling. It is by far the best 7870 in my opinion.

Not sure that it's a good idea to game on two monitors, having the monitor bezel in the middle will ruin the experience.

Well xfired 7870's will be faster but xfire/SLI is alot more work that single card setups so I would suggest going with a single 7970 but if you don't mind putting in the additional effort then the 7870's xfired will give you more performance. The MSI 7870 HAWK is the best, I'm not saying the gigabyte one is bad but HAWK is better.

o i c thanks man i was just thinking about the idea of a single 7970 would be better since this will give me the freedom of buying a second 7970 in the future when i find myself needing the extra performance, since when i compared the price its exactly the same.

so one last question whats ur opinion about which monitors would be good for a good eyefinity setup?
