Anyone know if it's possible to speed up shipping on items from UPS?

I have something arriving on Friday that needs my signature, and I have to go to a funeral during the time-frame it'll show up, and won't be back until Saturday night. (it's in another state, we have to leave ~3pm Friday afternoon)

I found a few things saying you could, but nothing about the prices.

Anyone ever done this? Do they charge you the full rate of 2 day shipping if you went from 5 to 2 day shipping, or is it just the difference?

(IE: 5 day shipping $10, 2 day shipping $30  do you pay the $20 difference, or the full $30?)

I'd call the UPS store near my house and ask right now, but I doubt I'll get a live person, as it's 5 am where I live.  I suppose I could call the toll free # too, but I'd rather ask here first.

Try checking the online tracker to see if there is any options there.

I had something delivered by DPD ( I know it isn't UPS ) and they had options in the tracker to change delivery times and etc.

I believe they will just increase the price of your transaction. They won't charge you for two transactions. So if you're current shipment is $10, they will just increase it to $30.

I'm pretty sure they will just charge you the $20. If you've already been charged $10.

But you may want to get on the phone and double check :)

You could call them and have them hold package at the local UPS Location for later pickup... if not restricted by shipper you could delay the package as well. You could even request special instruction for delivery (like hide package etc...)
