H100i infernal temps problem

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

That might be the problem... When i was installing the backplate it seemed a little loose, but when I placed the block on it it was pretty tight... Or wasn't? I will try to do something for that, i really hope that will help, thanks a lot :D

I will try and then post back, if you were right I will praise you as "The Mighty H100i Guru" u.u

Its the first AIO I have ever used, and I was sceptical. Yeah when I installed mine first time I could feel a little wiggle room and it did not seem to screw in as tightly as I thought it would so I added some washers and screwed it in further ( be careful you do not want to apply to much pressure because you could over-tighten

let me know if it makes any difference, it might not, but it helped for me!

Hi, I seek your help with my H100i (little piece of junk...) I have an i7 920 @ 1.3v, I have installed a couple of NF-F12s on the radiator to keep it cool and quiet, or at least that was the plan... When I'm idle temps are in the 45-50C range, with 700rpm on the fans, but when i'm gaming or rendering I have to turn the fans up to 1500rpm and my temps skyrocket to the 85-90C range that's neither cool nor quiet...

I have tried different thermal pastes, from the stock one, to an mx-4 to the esotic graphene based Thermene, there where tiny improvements, but nothing useful sadly... What do you guys think? I have an uber-toasty 920 or the H100i completely sucks? (By the way, the corsair link thinghy has died on me and the LED doesn't work, worst purchase ever)

Thank you

Before condemning your H100i, first check whether the CPU block is properly seated. If the backplate is loose and the block is not making enough contact then your I7-920 will seem like an inferno yea.

Just reapply proper thermal paste and properly reseat the block.

Check the h100i is seated tightly, I actually modified mine with some extra washers I had on the rear screws, keeps the thing REALLY tight and keeps the temps way lower than it was installing it how it came

What speed is the pump running at? if corsair link failed its possible the pump unit is failing or not getting enough power

They have like 5 years warranty so corsair will probably repair/replace it!

little piece of junk

I actually love my h100i, it keeps my 4770k at 40ish degrees under typical gaming loads

I don't see where it says he did it 3+ times. Could you please enlighten me as to where that information is?

Yeah, so many points of failure for these AIO watercoolers. They're hard to justify in my opinion. Good air coolers are more reliable with fewer points of failure, quieter, and often cheaper. Not impressed with how loud my H100i is either. To the point that I reinstalled the Stock Intel.

That is because the fans it comes with are terrible, if you replace the fans they are pretty quiet (I can barely hear the pump on mine)

They seem pretty reliable to me, considering how popular they are I do not hear that many issues, and Corsair would not provide such a long warranty if they expected a high failure rate

By changing thermal paste he had to remove and remount the block, unless hes a magician which I suppose is a possibility

There are better 240mm AIOs than the H100i, so I wouldn't base your opinion of AIOs off the H100i.

All hail The Mighty H100i Guru!! You are awesome :D temps are ok now, still a little higher then some reviewers got but still, 10C less is surely gonna help, I didn't have any washers to spare so I had to use an old credit card :P

Thank you, thank you, thank you :D
