League doesnt start... tried everything

Right now I'm on my laptop and I wanted to install League of Legends cause I cant use my PC right now. I downloaded the installer and installed it as usual. The first time everything started fine but the download of the game got stuck everytime so I un- and reinstalled League. I wanted to start the Launcher and try if the download worked but when the League of Legends "Badge" was gone the normal launcher window was completly black and closed immediatly after it opened. This happens everytime. I tried to reinstall League several times and I restarted my computer. So here's what you want to do:

 

Step 1: Quit LoL. We don't play bad games.

 

 

Ok, in all seriousness,

This happened to my desktop when I built it, I just kept reinstalling everything (including all the extra stuff like Pando Media Booster).

Eventually, it magically happened to install everything and all the prerequisite software and work. 3 matches later I quit LoL cuz I got bored of it...

 

So much effort wasted

 

But yeah, not really sure what makes it do this or how to fix it, but you're not alone, this issue happens.

Delete C:\Riot Games, then try reinstalling. (Make sure it's uninstalled in Control Panel first, but it does leave C:\Riot Games even if you do. ._.)

All of this uninstalling is good practice for when you actually decide to quit and uninstall for good, though

The clean reinstall thing didnt work and somehow I dont have access to the topic linked on the reddit post you sent.

I've downloaded the ZIP and extracted the files into my League directory. Didnt help. Launcher still closes.

your antivirus/firewall isn't letting League of legend modify the rads in "C:/Riot Games/League of Legends/RADS/projects/lol_air_client/release/" since it returns error when it tries to set it localfilesystem and then again error when it tries to create (download)

It might not be your antivirus/firewall but something is definately not letting league's launcher modify/create/delete it... try disabling/uninstalling whatever might be doing it.. and if it still doesn't work then it might be ur gpu driver since it returned error also when it tries to draw on your screen...

None of these things seem to work. I'm going to write a support ticket to Riot.

In error log it states that it failed initiating Direct3D9. Maybe this DirectX9 install will help you, because sometimes windows 7 and newer only have directx 10 dlls. Or maybe it is just LoL incompatibility with you GPU/APU.

Nope didn't work either. I think it has something to do with my graphics drivers. After I uninstalled League the first time I updated them and since then it doesn't work anymore. Too bad there is no option to downgrade then from what I've tried.

Well there is way to downgrade. Just use device manager uninstall GPU drivers and download older drivers from GPU vendor or NVidia/AMD has library with older drivers unless something changed.

Thanks. I downgraded from 14.4 to 8.x and it works now. League seems not to work with the Catalyst driver 14.4 on the Radeon Mobility HD 5870
