Hi guys, I'm about to order my GPUs but there is a problem: There are no reference EVGA 780Tis available in my country. I can only get the ACX versions. Can I fit reference style coolers on these cards? Are these cards built on the same PCB.

I'm in the local shop right now about to make the payment!

Thank you so much! :)

AFAIK it's a different PCB layout, but the ACX Cards would do much better for cooling.

I know they are better but I'll be doing an SLI setup. Please don't ask why, I'm writing these from a pc in my local shop here! :)

The EVGA 780 ti ACX should have a reference PCB unless it's a classified card.

It's not a classified card. Here it is:

The PCB is the same, and yes I agree with you; the stock cooler is better for SLI.

I'm pretty sure you can, I've seen a lot of people putting ACX coolers on stock Nvidia 700 series cards, so I'm sure you can put a stock cooler on an ACX.

Okay I've just had a look on the interwebs, the 780Ti ACX has a stock (reference PCB) BUT MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT BUYING AN ACX FTW OR ACX CLASSIFIED (those have different PCBs)

where are you going to get a reference cooler?

For an SLI setup on a case which doesn't have excellent airflow. An Obsidian 550D.

Cards with stock PCB:

EVGA ACX (but not the Classified or FTW)

MSI's TwinFrozr (technically aftermarket, but its just a stock design with better components)

Gigabyte Windforce (I believe it's stock, but I'm not sure. The GHz edition definitely isn't)

No problem, glad I could help. Also, keep in mind that you will have to replace the thermal paste on the GPU core.

no, I mean where are you going to buy them? I've never seen a site that sells just reference coolers, without the PCB attached to them.

Oh, I'm sorry. From forums or maybe eBay... Water cooling guys usually sell their reference coolers and install a water block on the cards.

I don't see why you would want to spend 80 bucks for a regular cooler when cooling doesn't even matter. Though I do like the look of the reference cooler better than the ACX.
