Yeah, I like the look of the yellow on your board, mainly cos it's more orange. Really like how it's not actually all that lit up, just a bit of color very minimalistic.

Yeah, this video is basically the dude from Geekhack building one for someone else... And I like that's a lot easier looking (soldering wise) than the Ergodox. Only thing I really wonder is if you can get the big L Enter, cos I really don't like the US Enter or layout in general (3 decades of Nordic keyboards tends to develop a preference :P )

Anyway, here is the video:

I have seen that video before as well. It shouldn't really be easier then the ergodox if you use through hole diodes(i think it can use them) rather then surface-mount

As I understood the diodes are already soldered on the KMAC, cos that seemed like the most annoying part of Ergodox build.

i would assume the kmac has them but through hole diodes can be used on the ergodox in place of the surface mount as far as I'm aware and that is really no different then doing an led and i don't think ergodox is set up for backlight so i would assume it to be the same work as a backlit kmac

I have a CODE from WASD. I like it. It's a keyboard. It works.

very nice review there. BTW did you swap caps for ctrl yet?

EDIT:

Oh, as for that keyboard I'm getting, it's a Ducky G2Pro Black Mamba, a German one, so it's a bit different, PBT, engraved black on black.

No big L enter because its ANSI layout as that what the US and most asian countries use including Korea where they are designed. You could do that with the Phantom though.

2 of my 3 EDox's require smd since they are the original aluminum ones and there isnt enough clearance for through hole. (nice job massdrop <.< )

As I understood the diodes are already soldered on the KMAC, cos that seemed like the most annoying part of Ergodox build.

Only certain version's i built pleanty a KMAC LE where I had to solder on SMD Diodes.

yea EDox's can do both it depends on the case. If you can do through hole do it as its easier and quicker. The EDox is not backlight and KMAC's, minus the happy and KPad, are only backlight on the Esc, F row, WASD, caps, L ctrl, and scr lk.

True, of course that will also depend on how many LEDs you want on your KMAC. Personally I would use only a few LEDs, so it would cut down the soldering quite a bit.

But I think we've highjacked this thread long enough :P

its not really how many you want i put as many as spots were open. generally I also turn off the WASD LEDs because it makes the keyboard seem unbalanced.

Ah, so KMAC isn't programmable then?

I watching the same dude build a Phantom too, which seemed cool enough, but I really liked the case for the KMAC. Will have to see, just looking at these for a project really, so right now it seems Ergodox is the best option, cos if I have to learn a new layout, I might as well one that is more ergonomic too, my wrists aren't getting any younger it seems.

Its fully programmable but that doent mean you can fit a ISO layout on a ANSI PCB.

Caps lock is now backspace.

huh? what?
