So, the question is in the title. I got the money for BOTH cards, so a reasoning that one is cheaper and the other is more expensive wont help me.

I was going to think about going with the Inno3D's HerculeZ Ultra DHS 780 or Gigabyte's Windforce OC R9 290X.

Which one would run games better on ultra / very high graphics for ~2 years without a problem?

Give REASONING too please!

I'm streaming every day, many AAA games, to entertain people and to get a hang of games that others are unable to play or want to see before they buy.

The 290x will get slightly better frame rate and the extra 1GB of vRam will help at higher res if you decide to upgrade from 1080p. The option you choose is dependent on whether you want the features Nvidia offers or the performance the AMD card offers. (Yes I know AMD have the features now but in my opinion they are not as good)

Would NVIDIA's GPU boost really make that compensative difference?

I would recommend getting an r9 290 vapor-x or tri-x, not any of those 2... but anyway, get the 290x, better pef and if you are gaming at multiple monitors that Vram really helps

Only a single monitor on 1920 x 1080.

I'd say 780 cuz i'm a nvidia fanboy, but the 290x is a bit better so if you have the money go for the 290x.

vs a 290x probably not unless you OC'ed in further. I was talking more on the software side Shadowplay etc.

Well, there is still no definitive answer regarding which GPU is more worth it :D

Well... the 290x is still faster, but I insist on getting a 290.

I want to get a GPU that will be good for a few years, I want to get most of the best things I can now with my new build.

You can't go wrong with whichever you choose ^^

the 290 will be good for a few years too (its a bit faster than the 780 actually) and with the money you save you can watercool it with an nzxt braket, or an artic acceclero aircooler.

Meh, not into watercooling the GPU, I will not overclock so no point.
